Firstly, the title "God willing, we'll lift the Champions Trophy" is an understatement. I guess being a coach, I would rather evince utmost confidence on my team rather than depend on GOD's will. I hope we as Indians start to remark more on our capabilities than depend on the unknown as lame ducks. What is it,"fear of our own strength"? I am not an atheist but at the same time I would definitely not let GOD's will rule without my effort and my own confidence. Let the confidence and wisdom ride our dear Coach's Brains!!
Secondly, answering the captain's role in a team, I guess as a coach, he should be fired. Thats the most DUMBEST comments I have ever heard from any coach. I think the captain is more than a TOSS representative. A captain is one who leadsd the team, who stands by the team, motivates the team and stands by his players at every moment ON and Off the field. Thats why he is a captain. Guess our coach needs some serious mentoring on how he should talk.
I will say India has acheived their current status out of sheer hard work and dedication. Full credit goes to the team and all those responsible for this.Kudos!!
That has been really a nice talk by our Indian Coach.I m really impressed with the way he takes each game..without getting into complecency thing...Wishing him and the Indian Hockey the Winning streaks all through the tournament and future..Cheers..(Abhiraj)
God may not be all that willing. Not just as yet. Even if we manage to repeat our best ever showing of 3rd spot, we would have achieved a minor milestone towards resurgence. This Indian team definitely has it in them to topple the best on a given day. Playing Holland on their home turf first up is an uphill proposition. A poor result in that match can upset our applecart. It will set the tone of our performance in the rest of the matches.
All in all we might be able to salvage something out of this outing.
