FLASH NEWS !!! Double blow !! :(

Anand lost in round three too, this time to Victor Bologa (whom he beat on route to the World Title in 2000). Both players played sharply out of a Caro-cann opening. The 17-year old German Naidistch held Kramnik to a draw after more than 80 moves and Leko drew Radjabov. After winning Linares in style, Leko seems to have gone back to his draw-first attitude, but this time it may be more because he might be wanting not to disclose his home preparations before his match against Kramnik. Dortmund is turning out to be a horribly jinxed venue for Vishy Anand after finishing last and losing four games here in 2001. He did not play in 2002 in the Einstein qualifiers which Leko won thereby earning the right to play Kramnik. Their winner plays the Kasparov-Ponomariov winner to be called as the 'OFFICIAL WORLD CHAMPION'. Vishy Anand got stuck in the middle of nowhere after FIDE let him down and will have to wait for the next cycle starting in 2004. We hope his form improves in this tournament and that he is able to redeem himself in the future rounds.
