EB's quadraple crown
by Ayan Bhattacharya on Apr 26, 2003 10:56 PM

Congratulation to EB for winning the National League in emphatic style (beating the nearest rivals by 4 goals in the crucial match). With this EB has won 4 major trophies this year - National League, Durand, IFA Shield, Kolkata League. In fact 5 if you count Independence Cup in Assam. Thats quite a thing to do. Full credit to Subhash Bhowmik and his boys. You have made us (die hard fans of EB) proud. The best part of this years victory was two out of two against MB. Hope the boys continue this form next year also and perform creditably in Asian Champions League also.

East or West EB is the best
by saumyo on Apr 26, 2003 11:03 AM

Congratulation to my lifeline EAST BENGAL for turnig anything and every thing to gold this season.Subhas Bhoumik deserves special praise for making the boys stick together, sticking to his plan even in the face of the choicest expletives by us(the fanatic fans) and having full confinedce in their ability.
The earlier report about one Malcom Sugo scoring a goal had me flummoxed as his name is unheard in Calcutta football circle.
Thanks REDIFF for bringing joy to millions of EAST BENGAL supporters like me who could not be present at SaltLake stadium on the historic moment.

National Football League

Congratulations to East Bengal Club for winning NFL in a great fashion - only one point is that the league should have been finished at a stretch -- will the IFA officials take care of that ? Otherwise it has been a good competition , with East Bengal winning it deservedly , showing great Team-work and strength of character --- BRAVO !!!!!!

CONGRATS EAST BENGAL
by Sumanta Kumar Adhikari on Apr 25, 2003 08:32 PM

Congratulations EAST BENGAL for ending a very succesful year in the best way possible. Hats off to them & in particular to the coach & administration for keeping their nerves right throughout the whole season.
This is the best time of remembering PALTU-DA who left us a few days ago. Wish he was here to see his dream coming true.
Hope that EAST BENGAL will finish their campaigning on a positive note by crossing the 50-points barrier for the first time in the history of NFL.

National Football Champion

Although the NFL football championship was decided, it failed to come as highlighted news on your website. If we do not promote other games, how do India go ahead. Media have the biggest responsibility, but I do not see any newspaper carry this article. Well Rediff atleast covered and did an elaborate match report , by which I am able to know the results sitting so far away from India. Please higlight othere games too.

Three cheers for East Bengal
by Rajib Das Gupta on Apr 25, 2003 07:19 PM

Thank you Rediff for an excellent coverage of this crucial match of NFL, which happened to be a do or die battle for both the teams. With cricket taking away all the media focus this sort of coverage will inspire more following to one of the oldest game of the world and definitely a bonus for die hard East Bengal supporters like me, who cannot make it to the ground to cheer the team.
