It is the NDA Govt that cancelled the minesweeper tender after it was almost finalised in favour of a Korean firm. Now they are stuck with Reliance Naval ( RNAVAL) who might deliver one by 2050, after retiring debts of over 40000 crores !!

The process was started in 2005 gentlemen. The same thing was with Rafael. UPA messed up everything, Modi is pushing it hard.

HAL is useless. Similarly Govt. Shipyard Garden Reach, Kolkata is buildingworking on minesweepers since decade, take that project away and give it to private firm..

HAL was never a ship building firm. PLease keep a hold on reality. Garden Reach is already full of orders for smaller vessels. The real problem was caused by the NDA Govt who cancelled a mine sweeper tender which was almost finalised in favour of a KOrean firm. Now they can try and subsidiese Reliance Naval with 40000 cr to wipe off their debt and then give them the order , which may be delivered by 2050 if all goes well !

I was talking about PSU when I was referring HAL. Garden reach is not for only producing smaller vessels. Goa shipyard is much more efficient than Garden Reach in building small vessels.

We are not confident of our Garden Reach tech for minesweepers. Otherwise why would Goa Shipyard short list a Korean firm for the supply ? In this case the BJP is doing a "Rafale" by cancelling an almost finalised contract.This is just as bad as cancelling of Rafale deal by Antony.
