In the NIT where I taught, the students who ask for a revaluation are assembled in a hall and their answer sheets are handed over for fifteen minutes, time enough for them to spot and point out any errors in the valuation. The original examiner and an outside expert check the claim and decide on the final marks. I awarded a zero for the answer by a student as no calculations were shown in the answer sheet but the final results were shown on the diagram of the structure. The student showed me that by using a calculator with memory facility it is possible to arrive at the final results without putting any intermediate steps on paper. I was convinced and awarded full marks. My only difficulty was to convince the external expert!
