Reservation is not solution
by soumendra datta on Sep 03, 2018 06:36 AM

In fact reservation of women seats in parliament is not the solution, in fact it will impose choice on people. There should be fair process of selection candidates so all sector get fair representation. Further the women reservation bill suffer from basic flaw that it is unfair for any male MP for to be not able to represent his constituency concurrently , while women MP can continue to do so.Thus I disagree with the point that reservation is method to eradicate gender inequality in parliament.

Basic neccessties should be fullfilled by any gender MP/MLA

Its not the gender that is good for development but the will power of the MPs/MLAs to drive growth in his/her constituency.
They should identify the potential needs of that constituency in the basic terms like power, water, housing, education, medical and road infra, bridges, tanks and logistics to transport the goods and godowns to store the agri products.
Next comes the implementation of the govt schemes and making sure that all the people know that there are schemes of the state and central which can benefit them.
They should have one office which can fulfil then govt services and needs like getting the required certificates birth/death, soil testing, AAdhar, PAN card, ration card, revenue, land registration, telephone, post office, sports facilities or conduction tournaments for young, bank, library, medical labs, agri/medical/ life insurance, utility billing, mechanics, LPG gas facilitation, electrical and plumbing needs etc.

If all these are implemented, then for life long the same MLA will be reelected even without going door to door for every election
The state and center should ask the MLA and MP to make sure that these facilities are available within 5-10km radius

This will generate more jobs in the rural areas.

Not agreed, country should run not women or SC,ST or backward or minority. Constitution can fix any quota for anyone as per system for the party to adhere not constituency, let constituency be represented by the winning candidate, not by reservation on the basis of gender, caste, religion or any other cause.
We have everywhere quota and reservation politics ruining the talent and actual representative of the people. People are forced to vote to women or SC, or ST or backward.
Where is equality and talent then.
