I thought it was just a statue but visiting it by elevator to the top and laser and light show will add attraction during night. They should have added water show and created big garden nearby. Anyways good architecture but it took lot of time. Had it built entirely in china it would have been completed within 1 years instead of 5 whole years. We lack the speed
'Statue of Unity' built by the present govt is no doubt a great thing for our country from the point of view of our contribution to art and architecture. it would become a matter of research for the future generations to come. At the same time it appears that other great contemporary leaders are being sidetracked. The great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shashtri, Ambedkar, Shubhash Chandra Bose deserve equal respect and treatment. Nobody can deny the contributuion of Sardar Patel, however those who are trying to hijack Sardar Patel as the leader of Sangh pariwar. Let them answer some questions 1. Was Sardar Patel not Home Minister and Dy PM at the time of assasination of Mahatma Gandhi? 2 Was he not Home Minister when RSS was banned after the assasination of Mahatma Gandhi? 3. Was he not aware of the implications of purposely implicating Veer Savarkar as mastermind of Mahatma assasination? 4 Was he not Home Minister when Panditji insisted on merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India before sending army to fight Pakistani inflitrators? If Sangh pariwar feels that Sardar Patel did not receive his due, it is their own mindset and cannot be helped but there is no need to denigred Panditji and Gandhi family for the sake political gains

Well said sir, I fully agree with you. It will take more time for this country to realize danger of RSS.
It is total waste of money.....they could have used the money for welfare purpose... we all know sardar Patel... Greatest person to unite India... 3000 crores big amount ... Not only bjp any party who would have done it is bad. Total waste of money...

What welfare you are talking about, there are so many items like Milk, biscuits, Cloths,Books...etc which comes o india to be distributed to be given to poor and they never receive them,instead they are been resold to others.. think 50 years from now it will be considered as an heritage , its representing india ...i am proud of it so will be my future generations

All those who think that statues, memorials and monuments are total waste of money; still have their big chance.....Ambedkar Memorial contract is awarded to Shapoorji Pallonji, construction yet to begin......Shivaji Staue off Mumbai is yet to be constructed.......Kindly collect all elements who agree with you. I feel that all Dalits, Muslims, SC, ST, NT will come together and form a majority. ....Kindly stop construction of these two monuments, and distribute the money amongst SC, ST, NT,Minoroties.

He united the broken earlier Bharath, After his efforts India is now as we see today, is effort united many a rulers kings , jameendhaars to form a united India. India was not at all existing in my view in the name of India before that It was some Muslim kingdoms, some south indian Kindoms and and many a petty rulers ruled India even when British were in India as rulers After the freedom we got India was united by Boomidhaan movement by Sardhaar Vallabai Patel So Indian history in fact starts from that day as Indian history.
Ultimately it is the art that steals the show. Michaelangelo's pieta has been praised all over the world. But it does not inspire any human virtue apart from art for art's sake. You will remember the short story by Oscar Wild, the happy prince. The last statements of the story are just repeating a human desire to be remembered. Each was quarreling as to whose statue should be put up in the town square. We are beginning a national tradition for no national reason. Unity does not need statues. We are united as it is now. There may be some FRINGE elements that are in the way to unity. They should be dealt with by police. The taller the statue less the visibility from the ground reality.

When more than 40000 farmers have committed suicides in last 4 years of Modi regime can one justify spending more than Rs 4500 croreson erection of one statue
There are lot of voices that amount spent on this is gross wastage of money. I just want to update them that his project has already fed a lot of family members of labor who were directly or indirectly involved in the cement, steel, architects and transporation. It has also fed a lot of people like tea vendor, small dhabas operated near the statue. It will also feed a lot of people after the inauguration in the shape of tourism, hotels, dhabas etc. I would also like to ask them a question whether followings are wastage of money or not -
1) Ms. Mayawati has installed a number of statues in the Uttar Pradesh. 2) Many acres of costly lands are acquired by political leaders samadhis. 3) Lot of Nehru/Indira statues are installed across the country.

what cong did since 60 years the money meant for hospital and school, they looted for their family. Patel status will be world famous and will generate the money spent in 1 year in form of tourism

Nehru/Gandhi dyansti time is over and they got morethan there contribution. Now time came for correction and all the name of Nehru/Dynasty family should be withdrawn and converted in hospital and acomodation for poor.
