The Apex court has the highest backlog of pending cases It is high time they increase the working hours of the court and reduce the vacations including long summer vacations of two months which is still continued from pre-Independence era under British rule. There are lots of more important matter to be decided than to prove their suprimacy to show the world that the judiciary is far more superior than the executives .

While the idea of reducing their holidays is overdue, cases which are filed with them cannot be rejected unilaterally citing lack of time.

Of late every body wants to litigate. This litigating mentality has to go and more understanding and accommodating nature should come. There has to be discipline among masses not to refer every thing and any thing to courts.

Also may be the government ( ??) has to find solution by establishing fast track courts to decide on such public interest litigations !!!

Now a days it has become a fashion to approach the Apex court for each and every litigation bypassing the lower courts. The Apex court is mainly a supreme appellate authority and should discourage litigants from approaching them without following proper legal process and stages of litigation. The Apex court has set very bad precedent by opening court doors at the early morning to hear the case of a convicts involved in serious crime even after fair chance was given to him to defend his case.

Supreme court in response to Tamil Nadu's appeal has directed that TN can have changed timings to fire the crackers for 2 hours as decided by the TN Govt. Your news item indicates Supreme court allows south India to burst crackers for 2 hours in the morning. South India comprises of Karnataka ,Andhra, Telengana and Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Supreme court has allowed only Tamil Nadu to revise the timings. Your news writter still in 'Madarasi" days which means all South indians are Madarasis.
