The SC fixed the date as 26th October on 23rd October.
And the CBI director - under the guise of removing him from power along with the CBI special director on account of the alleged spat between them - gets divested of his powers at midnight on 23rd !!!
Further, the interim appointee, Nageswara Rao, assumes office at midnight and stays in the CBI office right through the night and the CBI director comes to know of this development only in the morning !!
What is impossible even at the Panchayat level is done in such haste at midnight at the nations premier agency for investigation at the highest level !!
And very obligingly, the interim appointee transfers all the officers investigating the cases against the CBI special director in a matter of 6 hours from midnight to morning !
And who removed the CBI directors powers ?
The 3 member high power committee (PM, the CJI and the Opposition leader) that appointed him ?
No !
The CVC removed his powers !!
And does the CVC have the power as per statute to divest the CBI director of his powers ?
When the cat appears to be about to get out of the bag, the only response possible is to scramble to try and destroy all evidence !
