Who got the money? No Indian politician was charged - One Italian was charged. But the quality of Bofors Weapon proved worthy - experienced during Kargil war. No Indian was charged by court verdict.
It has become habitual to blame the govt by opposition whichever be.

Bofors money was a pittance. How could Narendra Modi fund his world record election campaign blitzkrieg expenditure with it ?
He had and has more juicy deals.....!
And now, since more and more of those deals are tumbling out, his partymen are panting and puffing and frothing to try and hide what is so difficult to hide (while Modi himself is busy talking in a shrill manner other issues in a frantic effort to divert attention of the commoners) !
are huge scams (though the Rafale scam, even after factoring in the full weight of inflation over 3 decades, is immensely more huge).
There is just no other way the Congress and the BJP have been and are able to spend such huge amounts in campaigning in election after election after election !
Of course, the Congress is so obviously now running out of black money (and the BJP is now sitting on mountains of black cash) since it has not been in power at the centre or in any major state which it can steal from like the BJP could in Gujarat and MP and Rajasthan prior to coming to power at the centre in 2014 !
While the BJP, as per a survey by the Centre for Media Studies, New Delhi, spent between Rs 12000 and Rs 16000 crores campaigning for the 2014 LS election, it declared just a relatively paltry Rs 780 crores as its expenditure to the Election commission.
And the Congress actually spent more than Rs 6500 crores in 2014 but declared just Rs 550 crores to the EC !
Both the Congress and the BJP have been stonewalling all demands for the institution of an independent Lok Pal and for making the accounts of political parties subject to public audit !
And the BJP under Modi has gone several steps ahead by removing the condition to declare the identity of the donor for contributions above Rs 20000 too !
The BJP under Modi has also virtually put black money funding of political parties beyond the reach of public scrutiny by instituting the deceptively named instrument of

*electoral bonds*, an arrangement that facilitates the donation of huge amounts of black money by corporates to political parties while retaining complete anonymity !
In effect, the Modi govt has legalized the so called round tripping of tax evaded income by corporates from tax havens abroad !
Political funding has to be transparent if a country has to move up the Transparency rankings and become less corrupt.
Instead, India has been progressively becoming more and more corrupt and the Modi govt has just opened the way for it to become as corrupt as the most corrupt countries in the world - countries like Somalia !
