We have so much talent in India then why do we have to depend on any other country. There is no guarantee that imported weapons will work when needed. During the Kargil war in many of our fighter aircraft the Electronic Counter Measure had failed and were shot down. When Israel bombed Syrian nuclear sites the expensive Russian supplied radar failed to detect the Israeli bombers since the Israelis had managed to get the codes to neutralize the Russian radar systems. India purchased from USA transport aircraft costing Rs. 1000 crore each and one of them crashed within 6 months. In the era of cyber interference into the so called intelligent systems can cause any expensive equipment to be reduced to a piece of junk. It is time we gave the $10 billion dollars to our engineers and build our own systems.
It would be utterly unwise to rely even 50% on the US and its policies that always seek subservience according to their own global-strategies. The US equipment and their continued support have always been under doubts and considered unreliable. The US changes its policies with drop of a hat where it suits it. With the US breathing down our necks over oil from Iraq and S-400 deal with Russia, we no longer can sustain to adhere with their policies. Over and above, its US that will suffer when its Boeing loses on to P-8I Poseidons, AH-46s, CH-47s, C-17s, etc, that are yet to be delivered completely. Neither India could afford to be the US ally nor rely on its the defence equipment-markets. USA is known to be an opportunistic entity and has also abandoned its "Sworn Ally" Pakistan defying all the logic of cooperation in Afghanistan. Using India as a tool against China also is against Indian interests in Asia. Why should we be the henchmen of the USA?
Russia and Iran has stood by INDIA since independence. They are our friends, and we nothing should stop us from buying from Russia and Iran.
Iran deals with us in Indian Ruppes and the crude oil from Iran is cheaper than from pother countries with good payment terms. India needs Crude oil at a good price.
Russia can give us a good air defence system which is world renowned. Its the need of the hour with India having very few fighter planes, we need a good defence system.
Overall we need the deals with Russia and Iran and we should be ready to deal with sanctions from US if any.
We have to keep our priorities in benefit of the nation before coming under American influence.

As a Nation, India will buy from Russia, and also do work with IRAN. US is posing like what it was trying from North K, situation here is difeerent.

The gains of 2 2 are more for US than India presently.Theu get access to ports on both sides of peninsula and in the Island territories. China is our physical neighbour and any act against it from our soil will remain deeply etched in the Chinese memory.
Iran ,,,its Oil and Chabahar port facilities are of strategic importance to us , but our decision to curtail imports of Oil to Zero , unlike 2012 when we worked around the sanctions with a Rupee- Rial agreement ,was indeed a surprise.
in case we back out of S 400 , then the world will get the message that India is now a US satellite.
india must remember that US has levied harsh sanctions on its close allies too.

my dear every country thinks of itself. India too will do so. so dont worry so much. Russia or china are not philanthropists extending open arms to greet and benefit India. Tey too have always looked after their interests. And that s natural. Russia has supported india since independence because nehru made it almost mandatory to buy industrial raw material and defence stuff from them. and also because US was helping Pakistan.so there are no angles or demons and so dont make a villain or hero of any particular nation. in fact that way china is far worse..India will have to look at its own situations and decide.
