Mughals and other Central Asian Invaders have done some great FAVOURS to India. Returning those is long overdue.

You got the goat by the beard. It is clandestine wooing of votes. Hydra Headed Red Brigade, Wooing the Hydra Headed Green Brigade. The Hidden Agenda.
I guess the writer is yet another leftist historian trying to portray the mughals as something benevolent. The standardization of weights and measures was done to maximize and control revenue collection (which was usually in charge of rajput ministers like Todar Mal). This standardization was not done to benefit the indians. It was done to maximize revenue. Such standardization would have happened anyway with time. No special credit to mughals. They were interested in making grand buildings to perpetuate their memory (money and labor was indian, architecture was iranian usually). But how many universities did they start? Zero. Heck, they could at least reopen the Nalanda university which was destroyed by the turk (Muhammad Khilji). Even that would have been good. Mughals and modernity were like oil and water. Notwithstanding this author's delusional thinking.

The moghals have done havoc in India, although some of them are said to be good. Destruction of temples, churches, derasars, etc., and forcible or induced conversions, have been the order of the days. These are not noble actions of the Moghals.
I m now convinced rediff is trying its level best to highlight Mugal's in good light. In entire writeup they have not written a single word about Shivaji Maharaj who with his bravery, courageuous Shambaji maharaj and Peshwavas defeated this Mouguls however the writeup at one place says Peshwas were defeated by British. Rediff - don't go low to this level that tomorrow people will forget that there was something like rediff as a portal.
The publication of this book is timed to coincide with the political climate and the forthcoming elections of 2019. Indian rulers had demonstrated far more intelligent administrative systems than the author might even imagine. Mughals could invade India because of petty infighting and for no other reason. To glorify Mughals is NOT BAD, but if that were to be done, it would paint the earlier generations of Indian kings in poor light. Yes, the leftist historians have done their mite to undermine Indian ethos and glory ... we do NOT need to go on adding to it.
It seems that author is ignorant to tell us about mismanagement and administration in India before Mugfuls. He doesnot know about Great Arthshastra and Rajniti by Chanakya which is still being refered by current managers and strategists. Before Mughals there were great Empires of Gupta, Maurya stretched from Persia to Myanmar. And this moron talks about administration and management. When India was developed in Astrology, Ayurveda, Mathematics, Physics, Econimics and other sciences the forefathers of author were still living on trees.

The nearest equivalent of Arthshastra is The Prince written by Niccolò Machiavelli in 16th Century. We can very well imagine how much the Europeans were lagging behind.
before mughals there were mouryas dynasty, chanakya the great economist.we had common coin during their time and even before that, indian past history is so glorious the other part of world was in darkness there was light in india, come on.

These snake oil sales men are trying to prove that Indians were savages before the arrival of slamic invaders and xtian colonizers.
Mughaks were good rulers good administrators.....and india was wealthy during their time and during their centuries of rule hindus remained in majority
