It's observed that no one has an answer for why the cost went up abnormally. The Defense Minister talks about finance and other talk about Shabarimal or Tejas. India s Defense capability is ahead of other developed countries. The past 60yrs the priority was food and infrastructure. it's not done for the past 4yrs. HAL is not capable But Reliance is?. Don't have a political analization Be practical.

Can anyone answer why Tejas were developed in more than 30 years and why India could not produce so far Jet aircraft so far to cater civilian needs.
This creates doubt on the capability of HAL.

No, you dumbo. Read what several experts have written about it.

The higher cost of the Sukhois manufactured by HAL is entirely due to the factoring in the cost of the assembly lines and associated infrastructure - things which are long since capitalised at the Russian plant.

In other words, with the passage of time, the difference in cost of the Sukhois (as well as its upgrades) made at HAL and in Russia will steadily come down and eventually those made at HAL will become cheaper due to the acquired manufacturing capacities.

The same goes for the Mirages (the upgraded Mirages made by HAL are now much cheaper than those made in France).

In other words, the initial difference is due to the capital cost for the infrastructure.

Two questions
by Shashank Parab on Nov 23, 2018 12:36 AM

Two questions to the Author. Why didn't HAL get the maintenance contract with TOT?

What TOT level was agreed when Rafael was finalised by the IAF? Is it complete manufacture? Maintenance? Or maintenance with spare part creation?

I got the answers by searching "rastravrat" on Google.

Do not want to discuss on Kongy's failure of executing the deal for full 10 years and left a hopeless situation of air defence of the nation for the next government?
