They have never been converted as Secular during congress regime, even look at Vice President - retired, how he talks. Muslims are important and their upliftment too, but why they are not having sufficient education, jobs and strong women force with them. Only congress is responsible to keep them poor and out of main stream.
It doesn't sound like appeasement , since Nath is not making any promises to the Muslim voters. He's trying to analyse what will win Congress the seats . That is similar to the strategising that BJP does every time there is an election. Every party would like to encourage its supporters to come and vote.
