Firstly, the issue is being unnecessarily made out for electoral gains. I really feel: 1) We have other celibate deities like Shanmuga or Subramanya in Palani & other places where females are allowed. 2) It doesn't mean that if you allow women's entry, they will enter temple during their periods.
