Delhi Smog

It was easy for the govt to order the farmers not to burn stubble and farm waste which they have been doing for thousands of years to replenish the minerals in the soil. The govt is powerless to order Delhiwallas not to burst crackers. When politicians have imported crackers from China why will they obey the Supreme Court. The entire nations money lands up in Delhi and with vast amount of black money who cares for air quality, spend the black money on crackers.

What rubbish

I live in South Delhi and this was one of the quietest Diwali's I have ever experienced in the last 40 years. I would estimate that the amount of firecrackers burst in my locality was just 20% of the normal. It was even much much below last year when there was a complete ban on firecrackers. I could not even buy some token firecrackers for Diwali because it was not available in any of the usual places where I buy them. This is the first Diwali of my life where I did not burst even a single firecracker. Not even a cap bursting gun! So if you want to blame anyone for pollution, then you can under no circumstances blame Diwali this year. Air quality has been in severe range for last 4-5 days at least now. Sounds like some soul-vulture is trying to sabotage Diwali further.
