UPSC Changes
by atul kulkarni on Jun 10, 2018 02:18 PM

People like Arvind Mayaram will always criticize the change in thought process (typical of any civil servant) as the Political leadership will be able to prevail over them and make them work.
All these years these people have enjoyed at the cost of common public and pretend to be holier than the cow.
The old system of linking the success and career to score in one of exam makes hundreds and thousands feel loss of future opportunities. In view of emerging challenges facing the society, it is essential to look at overall talent and not just academic excellence.
I therefore welcome the proposed changes.

Why Kisan and poor who are always in political discussions are still the same of 1950, because all tax payers money is eaten by politicians and govt. servants by way of DA linked perqs. and pension. It is all revised after each 10 years, govt. took an impact of 1.1 lakh crore in 2016 and OROP 0.12 thousand crore, no hue and cry, no talk, nothing, everyone accepted it. Similarly salary, perqs and other benefits of all MPs and MLAs. were doubled or trippled but nothing-since this is tax payers money loot it, let every poor and kisan should be fired or butchered, this is happening from 1950 onward.

GovtMaadharChodhs not satisfied with 7th Pay Comn, want 20% more

Nowadays a peon or junior asst in gov gets Rs 30,000, a gov lecturer gets Rs 1.5lak, a teacher 50K. Modi gov claims they are collecting a lot of taxes nowadays thru GST, income tax, etc. What all these collections for? To pay salaries to GovtMaadharChodhs [aka GMCs or 80% govt employees] who are good-for-nothing fellows?

I appreciate, Modi's initiatives on several fronts, but he is unable check the salaries of GMCs. Gov officials are laggards who do little work, they work hard only when there is scope for corruption, otherwise they eat paan and spit on the walls, play cards for 2 hrs when lunch time is only 1 hr, talk nonsense for hours, and so on. Only defense people should be paid high salaries, and salaries of all the GovtMaadharChodhs should be reduced. Govt is collecting taxes from the 97% hardworking people in the pvt sector, to pay exorbitantly high salaries to 3% GMCs. In pvt companies, corruption is only at the top, 97% employees have to work hard, but in govt companies 99% are corrupt and / or laggard fellows.

Govt should stop revising the salaries of the GovtMaadharChodhs in future and divert that excess money for improving primary education, family planning incentives, and spreading English language among poor. Gov criminals should be paid only market average salaries.

You have not added the Maharaja like leaves and other benefits they get, if you total it it will be not less than Rs.60000 per month for a peon.

modi o modi stop kiling people and now institutions
by Sameer Bhagwat on Jun 04, 2018 05:31 PM

No amount of work gets done to ease peoples hardships
Only intitutional tinkering to insert the RSS diktats

It would have been better if they tinkered with the accountability and service delivery part of the Babu instead of the admission process about which nobody is complaining.....How will India progress, if Modi loses this golden opportunity to reform the services , public transport, and the Railways???

Resisting the change!
by Raj A on Jun 03, 2018 03:53 PM

I am not hinting that all the bureaucrats in the past were puppets or spineless, but definitely we have seen many "yes men" and downright corrupt ones too. All through the post independent period, we have seen a particular type of culture - commonly referred to as the "babu culture" taking roots and evolving into sort of an unwritten law which gives them luxury of all privileges and less accountability. When you try to change anything, you are bound to meet with some resistance. Now all the babus of the world and their godfathers are up in arms trying to safeguard their vested interest. Some people will see through, but some will get carried away by these kind of articles. Mostly, the bakhts of the earlier system will cry louder. This when coupled with some media houses' support will create immense damage to the future of the country.

Is this the first time, Dr Mayaram?
by Venkatesa Prabhu on May 27, 2018 08:47 PM

Sir : Where was your voice and conscience when Congress and UPA followed similar practices, if BJP can even be remotely compared to UPA, Smt Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi etc. Bureaucrats were NOT PARROTS then, they were puppets and willing assistants, were they?
