During Congress tenure; crude oil touched USD 120 per barrel & the highest petrol price was below Rs. 80 / litre.
Now; when the crude is at USD 80 per barrel; then why petrol is being sold @ Rs. 80/- per litre.
During BJP's rule crude touched a low of USD per barrel but the Govt. dis not passed this benefit to the citizen. They raised Customs & Excise Duty at least 9 number of times.

You are absolute correct, except that during Congress regime Govt was giving subsidised petrol .. So instead of Rs. 120/litre it was Rs. 80/litre. Govt. was paying rest 40 Rs.
Whereas now, Govt. took out subsidy and rates will fluctuate like in other countries. Petrol in market is directly proportional to crude oil price.
BJP can also do same as Congress, but not because it is burden on Government. Who knows even BJP might do same as Congress.
Better option is to cut down on taxes (again it will be low revenue to Govt) but moving Petrol under GST if all states accept.
Note: Petrol and Alcohol is under state control not under GST

Subsidy subsidy subsidy till when will we subsidize and then worsen our economy? Pappu does not understand but you not understanding is an issue

it is not about subsidy. pure logic.. raw material cost versus finished product..simple crude oil price need to be taken into account..then you will understand..open your eyes and look out..compare the crude oil price for the last 15 years and last 4 years...

If UPAs subsidy was taken out the price of Petrol should have been around Rs 120. SO UPA did not do anything good to reduce petrol, they simply passed on the cost to Tax payers and reduced the price. The #FuelChallenge should be match my rate on the same level ground. Also RAGA $tupid does not understand that the way challenge works is, you first do it yourself and then challenge another person to do it. UPA/Congress did not do it and they have no right to challenge.

Do you know that during UPA term they did not pay for the oil they purchased from Iran and other countries ?. When NDA came to power during initial days Iran and other countries threatened to stop supply if old dues were not paid which was close to $6.7 billion dollars. So centre has increased the tax and they are paying back the old dues.

When Charan Singh was PM, Petrol was Rs 5 a litre. 1d10t Moneymoan Singh raised it to Rs 54... What an economist. :-)
