Due to better medical services, death rate dropped and life-span increased. 8. Railways, postal services, modern education, English medicine, etc rapidly improved the standards and quality of life. 9. British rule gave an equitable justice system whereas before that only village landlords decide in favor of few elite. 10. British rule altogether gave a new direction to Indians who were mired in ignorance, superstitions, caste-barbarity and opened an era of modern civilization in India. 11. Indians live in delusion that India very prosperous before the British. Before the British, 95% Indians were living in pathetic conditions.
It cannot be construed that there is no Modi wave. Because today Modi is BJP and no body else. Because of the charisma of Modi with strong leadership of Yedurappa despite his corruption issues when he was CM BJP could get 104 seats. Congress went all out campaign and still it could not capture power on its own. It is fact that if any two of the three parties could have pre poll alliance it could have been different result. for the timebeing Karnataka has to pull on with the uncertainity of present dispensation as time will only tell whether it is going to run for full term or internal squabbles make way for BJP again or going for fresh elections which will be very costly on the democracy as far as burden is concerned.
