Two issues
by Vijay Sahani on May 08, 2018 12:10 PM  | Hide replies

There are two issues involved here.

One is the morality of handing over a national monument to an industrial house "for maintenance".

The second, and more important issue in my opinion, is the issue of transparency. Were bids called from other private operators? I don't think so.

It is announced that the Dalmias will spend a measly Rs 25 crores over the next 5 years to *maintain* the Red fort !

And the Red fort already earns Rs 6 crores per year in tourism revenue !

And the Dalmia thieves get to plaster the surfaces of the fort with their hoardings !

And the Dalmias still would remain absolved of any damages to the fort that can happen or they may cause themselves while promoting their cement or other businesses !!

That is a typical specimen of the komaaaaali Modi model of encouraging *investments* and promoting *dhevvulluphmhennt* !!

Hi shiva, I can understand that you are stumped for an answer !

Normally, those stumped for an answer do not respond. In your case, your frustration at not having any real counters has got the better of you !!

Dalmia spends 25 crores to maintain ...and they become thieves for you ...ha!
As part of this initiative called "Monument Mitra" some 95 monumnets will be maintained on a non-revenue / no profit basis by corporate entities as part of their CSR with restricted company visibility and access to core areas ...and "no handing over of monuments".

They will primarily focus on providing basic amenities including cleanliness, public conveniences, drinking water, ease of access for differently abled and senior citizens, standardized signage, illumination and advanced amenities such as surveillance system, night viewing facilities, tourism facilitation center and an enhanced tourism experience.

I am putting these facts for other readers and not for you, since I know for sure that you know about this very well ...its only that you need to satisfy the itch to brush the proverbial tar on every *dhevvulluphmhennt* (as you nicely put it) done by this Govt.

Its only that people like me can understand your predicament and frustrations.

Happens da .....cheer up :)

You did not read this article, did you ?

Do read it fully !

The Dalmias will not be accountable for any damage that may be caused to the monument while they handle its responsibility !

The article further says that should the Dalmias cause any damage to the monument in pursuit of their self promotional activities, it wont be ensured that they will be made to pay for the repairs/restoration !

And.......why does the country need private profiteers to provide signages, cleanliness, public conveniences, drinking water, illumination in historical monuments, more particularly in historical monuments which are visited by large number of tourists and so have a high income from tourism ??

Why ?

Trying to cover up that big hole in your argument with labored bravado ?

Wrong assumptions
by rajeeb banerjee on May 08, 2018 12:02 PM

Why is author making assumptions that the Red Fort will become an advertising bill-board for the the Dalmias? Why is she also assuming that the red sandstone will be replaced by concrete only because the Dalmias manufacture cement. This article is just an assignment for a green-horn journalist.

Standard of journalism has hone down so low.Maintenance of Red Fort is given to private party but the author is projecting as if the whole Red Fort is given to private party ! These are not the jobs of Government bodies these things are best handled by private bodies.
The author is more concerned about RSS background of the owner.
The report doesn't have any merit except that the author is in the roll of some of nthe opposition parties.

The irritation expressed in the comment reflex private interest and not national. Why the party in power is more interested to award maintenance responsibility to selected pvt. party having no previous experience than the Government departments raises doubt about underhand deal.

BRITISH RULE WAS THE GOLDEN ERA IN THE INDIAN HISTORY!
by MISSIONARY on May 08, 2018 11:43 AM  | Hide replies

BRITISH RULE WAS THE GOLDEN ERA IN THE INDIAN HISTORY!

1. British, by ending barbaric rule of Mozlems & their domination (who killed 600 mil & raped 600 mil HHIndus over 1200 yrs), liberated HHindus from 1200-yr subjugation & gave them religious freedom and prevented India from becoming BarbarianIslamicRepublicOfIndia (BIRI).
2. British united 550 princely states, which were fighting internecine wars, into a single entity. British ended the menace 1000s of murderous robbers (thugs) in north India.
3. British built excellent dams, bridges, railways, gave equitable Justice system, modern education system by opening universities, etc which rapidly improved the living and intellectual standards of common people. British modern medical services reduced death rate and increased life-span.
4. English language helped India to become a tech & educational superpower in the world today, in spite of some shortcomings.
5. British rule considerably weakened the barbaric caste-system, superstitions, ignorance, etc strongly rooted in Indian psyche, though remnants remain.
6. No doubt Hinduism is the most secular, literature-rich religion, but Indians live in delusion—believing ancient Indian literature has all sci & tech; in 2000 BC, literacy was 90%, all were rich & none poor; Indian economy 27% of world economy in 1700, etc. These are all lies invented by scoundrels to fool Indians. Before the British, Indians were living in pathetic conditions.

What nonsense is this? Only muslim/british monuments are our heritage? That too built by Aurangzeb a cruel creature?? Why such a hue and cry about cultural heritage when the same is opposed if a hindu cultural issue comes up? Why this discrimination of cultural heritage?

Srinivas,

When comm'ies and J'dis tango like these two and like what is happening in India now, better we watch the spectacle and be vigilant too.

One is getting quicking assigned to dustbins of electoral history and we can hear the shrill final cries and shouts

The other Tribe is now efficiently and suitably addressed. it has started with earnest resolve.

So ...both are petrified and seek solace mutually and hence the Tango.

Watch them progressively getting entangled and cured systematically.

Till then enjoy this weird tango :)

Very good decision by Modi govt. Maintenance does not mean ownership, Red Fort is a national property. But getting the maintenance and upkeep by private people will cut cost and a govt. servant at class IV class cost to govt. Rs.60,000/- p.m. with all his perqs including his leaves, whereas similar person gets around Rs.15,000/- p.m.
