by R ponnabalam on Mar 26, 2018 04:00 PM

"Without necessarily being pro-Pakistani or anti-Indian"It is really really having the opportunity to play one against the other with both requiring our hands and we will do the hard bargaining. If they don't do it they are not worth t .If we are not ready for it we are not worth it

Different decision in bangladesh war
by R ponnabalam on Mar 25, 2018 04:49 PM

"If independent Bangladesh was a signal victory from the humanitarian, Bangladeshi nationalistic and Indian points of view," .Is there a remote resentment that India should not have done what it did fearing the likelihood ofthe neighbourhood being reminded that India has the will and capability to act as the US did when it helped to break up Colombia"and should have closed the eyes to the rape of Bangladesh and would Madam Sheikh Hasina applaud a different decision of India then R.Ponnambalam

Let W.bengal decide
by R ponnabalam on Mar 25, 2018 04:43 PM

Sheikh Hasina's comment, she probably had in mind the aborted agreement between West Bengal and Bangladesh on sharing the Teesta river's waters. Was it because of W.Bengal or Govt, of India.Let us give all that W.Bengal can afford to give from there to Bangladesh and let w.Bengal have the wherewithal to manage times thereafter R,Ponnambalam

The play goes on
by R ponnabalam on Mar 25, 2018 04:12 PM

But long after the event one Indian newspaper in India had in it’s last page an article that read The atrocities committed by IPKF , then the parenthesis “well reported in International press” that led me to wonder what happened to our Free Press then. Is it that we pretend as Chairman Mao had said R.Ponnambalam

Play one against the other
by R ponnabalam on Mar 25, 2018 04:11 PM

“it also reminded the neighbourhood that India has the will and capability to act as the US did when it helped to break up Colombia” .Neither the will nor the capability was absolute.India didn’t seek Bangla refugees to pour in that number in India. No one would think that even the then India had the capability as what was rumoured was that the then U.S.S.R. wanted India to do things quickly as they expected U.S.A to intervene.U.S.A did send in Seventh Fleet. But for the mishandling by PAK. that duo of NIX and HEN wouldn’t have allowed it ; if nobody else but Mrs G would have known that well .Cuba was the only odd man out but it, too, has moved closer to the US sphere of influence.”Here it is another bigger sphere of influence awaiting to coalesce with. So our neighbours play one against the other. It all started with Mrs.Bandaranaike ‘s so called Colombo plan to influence of all Chairman MAO who is credited with having said “India pretends to be a big player.” What he would have thought of Colombo Plan. “Sri Lanka's ethno-cultural affinity is a source of both strength and weakness.” No longer.India has well contributed to the massacre of Sri Lankan Tamils with it’s inept foreign policy that drew the comment in Sri Lankan Press” The old Fox has taken the ---- for a ride.”IPKF’s atrocities Indian Press didn’t report. But long after the event one Indian newspaper in India had i

(contd.)The way parliament is being disrupted is a reflection of his failure as PM to take the opposition along as also of his controlling nature of the legislature and the speaker supposed to be independent of the executive. Same with the perceived total control of all the central agencies, institutions etc. As a PM his speeches in Parliament are supposed to be at a higher level ---statesman-like, reconciling….. but to the contrary it is full of sarcasm, hatred… and so on …..mainly on a/c of the ‘suffered syndrome’ of the past which he is unable to overcome. Also ‘end’ and winning at all coast is not important but ‘means’ must be as important as the end for a person holding highest constitutional post. Besides, once a leader delivers to his people and are satisfied there is no need for that 24x7x365 image building exercise using fb,twitter, media etc. with which he appears to be fully occupied more than serving the people or fighting corruption etc. President Trump too is on similar footing but main problem for these two is unlike Putin or Xijimping who head oligarchies these two individuals unfortunately are caught in a democratic trap.

You are entitled to your view, however right you think you may be or however wrong as others may see you. Pandit Nehru and Indira Gandhi may have been towering figures in their time but both have had monumental failures. Only the Lutyens Delhi media will portray them in glory.

The title of the book by Ayub Khan "FRIENDS ,NOT MASTERS" had ominous tone.No great men of those days came out with an exposition on that A PM. dismissing the Foreign Secretary in Press conference had feeble opposition then .Now we advise to go begging for compromise. No voice advised this to Gen.Sunderji when RIGHTLY and Efficiently he moved the equipments courtesy that no non sense Mr. Singh(that is how I remeber having read). That in later days drew a praise from Mr.Shyam Lal "The country would remember him for standing upto the chinese. He made them withdraw without firing a shot. Alas what we hear now R.Ponnambalam
