When you sign up for some of those Facebook quizzez or use a Facebook App, it asks certain permission. Some permissions (then) included right to access your friend's information. Any of those App builders could get some details about you. And if they conducted a psychological test like Kogan, then info about you and how you answered would be available to them. Then Kogan sold this data. Now the questions who who would you allow to know so much about you? And can that data about you be sold? And how would it affect the population as a who.e

hype cannot influence
by s kumar on Mar 22, 2018 01:46 PM

while market research and analytics to assess consumer behaviour or voter beaviour has been there since long.. how branding campaigns from these will influence the outcome is very vague and not really certain. parties are free to hire firms to do market research and get input on voter behaviour. If any false hypes are created these will have negative effect also bcos voters have the feel of the ground reality much better -than projected situations . seems much ado about nothing .. but private data sharing without individuals consent is an offence .

I am not sure ...
by Deepak on Mar 22, 2018 12:07 PM

.... if this super-technical mechanism will influence voters in India.
In India, the playing field is different with the differentiating points being things like '15 lakhs in each account', 'temple building', 'biriyani and a bottle', '10 heads for one', '70 years excuse' etc ... No sophisticated tools or infra required for this, just some vocal chords and crisp pink notes.

the agency themselves told that BJP had used their services for 2014 elections ... and that has to be believed because one of the BJP leaders himself told in Devas that "600 crores of Indians voted for BJP in 2014 elections and given majority to a single party after 25 years" or so ...

Does it really work !!!
by RAJ on Mar 22, 2018 11:47 AM

A wise person will not get influenced by ads of Big Brands until he reaches that place in the pyramid where he can afford the product. WE Marketers use Involvement matrix to create demand. Similarly we do not vote / love /hate leaders based on social media hype. But But But , we do get influenced by our senses ( eyes/ears/touch etc) , the way we all hate each other or a particular community on social sites. Once we have data profiles of ( say) a million guys , we can channelise our campaign to them and even 10% get influenced they will have aripple effect thru ( WOM)word of mouth. Typically in a learned audience u cant sell any product like this but definitely it has been observed that polls can be influenced ( but only to literate fools blinded by illiterate politicians who throw money thru literate/learned salaried guys , who show them the path) No need to create a mountain out of a mole here. If current Govt has worked on deliverable s and really delivered , they should not be bothered but otherwise, then definitely they should.Jai Hind
