Yes, it is truly urban Maoism. Not just that, this is blackmail. Happening across the country.
Everyone understands the plight of the farmers. No one can deny that they are need of a helping hand. But, this kind of loan waivers year on year is getting a bit too much to digest for the taxpayers. What is the great difference between these loan waivers and the corporate loan write-off's?
Instead of begging for loan waivers, they should fight for alternative ways to improve their agriculture and livelihood means.

We have too many people dependent on unproductive agriculture.
For all the hatred we have towards Adani and Ambani types, let us not forget that it is only them that can get them some kind of alternative employment to the scores of people dependent of agriculture..
And the other thing we need to do is control the population growth. We simply do not have enough resources to sustain this growth rate.

It is urban Maoism.

Farmers are important section of the society. Their just demands need to be met.

What seem to be happening is we are overdoing when it comes to portraying the plight of farmers. Poverty is in every section of the society.

farmer's plight is served with loads of melodrama and theatrics in this country.

If you add up all the loan waivers that successive governments sanctioned to farmers, it would amount to several times the country's budget.

Now, Poonam Mahajan will be cussed and chided for what she had said. She should be congratulated for what she said.

If it is a farmer protest, what is the need of the commie flags ?

Why romanticize every thing ?
by auryas on Mar 12, 2018 05:45 PM  | Hide replies

farmers are important section of the society for sure. So are other sections.

What seems to be happening is because of the mind numbing trash media, a section of the society is almost made demi-Gods while others portrayed as some kind of blood sucking monsters.

Farmer feeds us sure. But it is not for charity. It became a drama like event , each time farmers rally for their demands a dam of dramabaazi breaks and load of theatrics gush out.

Media, local leaders, social activists and even common people who want their two minute air time all rush to the fore and dump loads of sympathy and curse the government of apathy.
