The BJP outspent the combined election campaign expenditure of the Republican and Democratic parties in the 2012 US presidential election !
However, Rs 12000 crores now appears to be small change ! In the recently concluded pot-boiler election to the Karnataka assembly, the CMS estimated that more than Rs 50000 crores was spent by the 3 main parties !
No prizes for guessing which among these 3 parties spent the bulk of that amount !

Why did the BJP declare just Rs 700 crores as election expenses to the Election Commission in 2014 when it actually spent more than Rs 12000 crores (as per survey by the CMS) ? Do you think that the kind of media blitzkriegs for several months and the massive number of rallies of Modi and other BJP leaders and the mobilisation of lakhs of cadre all across the country would cost just Rs 700 crores ?
Why has the Modi govt recently legislated that the source of funds for political parties need not be revealed ?
Why has the BJP not agreed (like the Congress earlier) to include the accounts of political parties within the ambit of the RTI ?
Of course, the Congress party and several other parties too are corrupt and survive on black money like the BJP does.
