Fanaticism is not Hinduism
by nita vikram kapadia on Jul 03, 2018 08:23 AM

Thank you for writing this.By default, Hindus can never be fanatics.I think you should keep describing fanaticism for people to be aware of.Extremism of any kind is harmful.

It is purely mind set of every individuals. After some stage when we grow the mindset changes after watching and observing what is happening around - many keep their faith at house and avoid going public due to fatigue and some involves more after getting aged.

feverish labour put in by religious fanatics, the fact remains that religious identities are entirely superficial in nature and can hardly match the class identity in defining groups of people !

Class is real ! Religion is imaginary !

There is just no way rich or upper middle class hyndus or muxlims or chrittins would truly consider a poor or lower middle class hyndu or muxlim or chrittin respectively as one of their own, pretenses aside.

That a large number of poor and lower middle class people fall frequently for the religious solidarity pretensions and machinations and violence based on such fake solidarities by their co-religionists points only to their ignorance and gullibility !

when I was a student, I felt that my school is the best-I loved my school to win in sports and continued till college, then I felt my district to win, then my state to win after that my country to win. This competitiveness makes quarrels too - as is being happening in everything and every field. - It is a kind of patriotism within ourselves

This must be your first sensible post here at Rediff , even though i lean towards the right and you are hardcore leftist( although you troll a lot) but you are right regarding class . In metro cities of India those who wield considerable wealth and power automatically become upper class, i happen to one know such family in Delhi who are scheduled caste but live n behave like upper caste, there eldest son and daughter are married in to upper caste family,

Wealth, power along with a west inspired lifestyle/education/upbringing has blurred the caste lines in metroes but yes religious divide is still there.

100,200 years from now Class and Gender divide will be the only polarizing factors left , rest like race , caste, religion,Nationality will simply vanish ...
