naval bases in the making -- Gwadar in Pakistan, Hambantota in Sri Lanka, Chittagong in Bangladesh, Kyauskpyu in Myanmar and Gan in Maldives – all will be shaking Indian sensibilities and sensitivities and all the four will play India and china game, thanks to blunders committed by India in the past.China is a successful player in every respect. They live in real times coming to the top table as a manufacturing Power. We are having a per capita income just in the range 50% of SRI LANKA.Bangladesh with it’s micro loan is a success story. We better ask our BANKDOM. “Lingering border disputes and fierce geostrategic competition” This said what comes to mind is a quote that appeared in a newspaper recently.Modifying that one can say :Achievements are as difficult to come as they are rare.R.Ponnambalam

With China now having/planning naval bases in Mynmar, BD, which will be plumb opposite Andaman, and in Gwadar, Sri Lanka, and in Maldives india is now surrounded. We should do all we can to develop the Selang port in Indonesia and in Singapore and also in Andamans, keeping Brahmos in these locations. Though India is outwitted 1 to 4 by the Chinese Navy, if we have the fighting edge we can still win the day. This was seen in all our previous wars with Pak , who with special equipment could not defeat us. This is all the more so with China which has an army with no fighting experience. We should improve our facilities at Oman, and Seychelles also
