I have served under Gen Sunderji in the 80's.He was a brilliant, gutsy & a charming soldier.Politicians are responsible for his involvement in Sri Lanka & Op Blue Star, etc. As a good soldier,he merely followed orders...sincerely & aggressively. We in the Armd Corps & Mech Inf remember the General very fondly for his boldness, zeal, initiative & Operational acumen.
Bofors purchase was one of the best decisions taken by Sunder Ji. Had BJP not made it an issue of corruption this gun would have been manufactured in India by now . We won kargil war with Bofors
Gen Sundarji is considered as one of the greatest Indian Gen with a vision. Merchandised Infantry is a standing example. Brass track was required as Paki's told India about the bloodbath as they got the nukes. China tried in threaten and this General quickly responded by airlifting troops. I don't see any failures in his acts. You can't paint him for political crises. This article is a no brainier. Looks like a politically motivated one.
"Criticised by many for his naked ambition and aggression,"Let us select the next General from the band of satyagrahi's of mahatma Gandhi Brigade "R.Ponnambalam
Rahul Bedi is a dumbo and has no brains. Can a general take the country to war. as per the constitution the responsibility of armed forces is with defence secy. Who passes the orders to armd forces as per the directions of Political leadership. Going to war in Sr Lanka was the decision of the dumb political leadership of that time i. R.... G..hi. Lke a true soldier Gen Sundarji obeyed the legal order given to him. Dung on the face of Rahul Bedi.
"Born into a high-caste Brahmin family in 1928,"Is it a need to say about his so called caste and as to whether that caste is high or low. Why don't we be told "remained in the limelight by admitting that he had been pressurised to opt for the Swedish howitzer by the Kashmir Brahmin -farzi family Lineage R.Ponnambalam
