Rank structure in the Forces
by sarjit saharan on Jul 27, 2018 10:55 AM

To ease the problem the rank structure in the Army should start with joining the National Defence Academy (NDA). In the 1st & 2nd terms of training he should be address as Cadet, 3rd & 4th terms as Gentleman Cadet and 5th & 6th terms as Lieutenant and Captain on joining Indian Military Academy(IMA). On passing out from the IMA he is granted President Commission in the rank of Major. Hereafter, present rank structure continues. This will neither effect the efficiency of the Army but would help in having young commanders at all level and would Equated with any Civil Cadre. Whoever has more service in that level rank would chair the meeting. Those failed to get promotion their pay should be at par with his batch mates as being followed in civil cadre.

Poor Brigadiers!

The said aim of abolishing the Brigadier Rank is to equate the Services with the IAS Cadre.Whom are they they fooling?
Firstly The Services Should not be Equated with any Civil Cadre. Secondly,Will the Babus agree to equate the the Services with themselves. The proposal of abolishing the Rank must have been linked with the SAVING the State will be having. This SAVING Factor is always used by the Babus and The Govt Falls for that. The Govt is heavily dependent on these Babus so it will NEVER EVER ignore the Advice. And this has been proven N number of times.
Army is proud of its TRADITIONS.Please think twice before you decide.

Abolishing Brigadiers
by rathi raj on Jul 25, 2018 01:25 PM

If at all resizing and restructuring Armed Forces, it would be prudent to reduce or abolish Major General rank. That rank can be tenable by Brigadiers.

military shall be efficient and quick to react.if they are not happy, then it is not good.civil services steps of promotion and defence personnel ranks must be similar.all shall be equal in all respects.2nd Lft. shall go away.lft for two years.captain 5 years.lt colonel 3 years.colonel 4 years and brigadier 4 years, major general 4 years and onward.defence personnel reponsibilitie and duties are tough.let civil servants serve army atleast two years in rank of captain.posting shall be on rough terrain and odd locations.they will learn how tough is their job.

Rank structure in the Forces?
by V Nagarajan on Jul 25, 2018 09:29 AM  | Hide replies

Army cannot be equated to the Civil services.
In CSs almost all of them retire in the rank of a Secretary, before retirement.Further the retirement age is the same for all, irrespective of the rank.
But in the Army almost all of them retire in the rank of Lt Col or at the most Col.Further the retirement ages are not the same for all.
So getting rid of any rank in the higher levels, like the Brigadier is not good, since the Pyramid is very steep.
However On Commissioning they can be given the rank of a Capt with the pay and perks etc.
Since they all can hold 2 acting ranks, they is no limit to it,in the field area? With in 3 years they all can become Acting Majors and in 6 years acting Lt Cols etc, drawing the corresponding pay and perks.

Also Civil servants have no accountability if they are aligned to politicians.. Departments like PWD,urban development, Power are most corrupt and Zero accountability. Honest tax payers have to drive on potholes, bear with 4-5 hours power cut, face bars with full drunkards in front of houses and schools. Visit any areas in indian cities where these babus and politicians live, they will not allow any road side vendors in their area, Roads are relaid every quarter, No bars, No honking, No smoking, parks and clubs all around ... For what ? For looting common man along with politicians..

At least Army officials have more respect and lots of accountability..So indeed Army caanot be equated to the Civil services who are paid hefty salary, given luxurious life by govt from our hard earned tax money to loot us only.
