one nation- one election
by Magadi Raghunath on Jan 29, 2018 09:07 PM

The problem-solution of one nation-one election is tied in inextricably with the loss of confidence in state assemblies that forces elections ahead of schedule. Even if we somehow restart the one nation-one election process, it is bound to degenerate soon after as state governments collapse due to various reasons. The same situation can also prevail at the Centre. So, the question is this, If an elected government loses the confidence or is otherwise unable to last its full term, how do we continue 'elected governance' without a mid-term election? Also, how do we prevent a government that calls for an election ahead of time to cash in on its current popularity?
One way to avoid mid-term election is for the assembly or parliament to propose a 'vote of confidence' in an alternative set of MLAs/MPs rather than a 'vote of no-confidence'. 'Elected governance' then continues with a different set of leaders. Calling an ahead of term election can be made constitutionally illegal, defining unambiguously the adverse conditions under which it can be done, thus doing away with opportunities to cash in on current popularity.
But what about Article 357 ?

No more elections

Looks like India is going to go through a phase where there will be no more elections. The present ruling dispensation will by hook or crook make sure no more elections will be held. India is going to go to dictatorship.

As long as you vote for Parliament and assembling you do not have to cry. Even Indhira Gandhi declaring emergency had to declare elections.

India's secularism is detrimental to Majority people of india. SECULAR FACRIC has been grossly misused by left as well as by Media.
India should good to go for dictatorship being dictated by Hindi leader. Hindis has never uprooted any of the miniority people living in india. Rather people of other religions are happily living in India as hindy people are soft and donot hate others.

Trying to take away the power of the common man and give it top some top bureaucrats? This can be look good at short term but in the long run will lead to anarchy. People are not slaves. India's strength is its diversity, Its natural.
