the mess with aadhar is predicable.
its an open end system with too many loopholes,
its like a thread which can lead you to many private and secret information.

Most similar systems in the world have gone thru similar fate before becoming robust. Aadhar will become robust in the same sense. Your Name, Phone Number and Address can be collected anyone who is willing to Dumbster dive in your locality. Indians are inherently lax when it comes to safeguarding out personal detail. Heck we even share how much we earn to some strangers. But i am not supporting the tought that data breach is okay. I am just saying, Aadhar is going thru a phase where it will become strong after few years. Note , just because you know some ones Aadhaar number and name and number, does not mean he can claim to be you. You still need Biometric information to verify before a service can be rendered. For Ex : You want to open a bank account or a Cell phone sim on another persons name, you have to provide the Aadhaar details like No., Name, Phone No. and Address. But it does not end there. You will have to provide the Finger print as well. recently govt introduced Virtual Number as well as face recognition. All this will have to be passed to be authenticated. So what can this wannabe me do, NOTHING. SO i say all this news of Aadhaar breach is not happening from UIDAI end. It is happening from the service prpovider's end and it is by itself alone is not going to breach your security. So chill!!

#SJ:

We cannot take comfort saying "give some time for the system to become secure"

Today's world has much bigger security threats than what existed when say, the USA rolled out its SSN concept. Systems are more interconnected, hackers are more numerous, more skillful, more collaborative, and better equipped. Compare that with the literacy levels and digital-literacy levels of the Indian population whose data is being brought into this uidai dbase. Its an open invitation for the hacker community that is eagerly waiting with drooling mouths for the uidai dbase to be fully stuffed with juicy data.

Heck, we don't even have proper cyber-security laws with enough maturity, and we hardly have any cyber-aware staff in our law enforcement personnel.

The summary is: the govt should first PREPARE THE RIGHT GROUND CONDITIONS.
