We are proud that he is Indian first and Indian last. He had many laurels and highly deserved candidate. Wish him for the success in this great organisation where as he occupy the chair which has been decorated by many of his great successors like U R Rao, Kasturi Rangan to Kirn kumar etc.

Why are these people so insecure ?
by auryas on Jan 11, 2018 06:21 PM  | Hide replies

Fail to understand if these people are total idiots or deeply insecure creatures.

First Tamilian to head ISRO?

Looks so cheap.

Even if the society wants to forget and get on with life, scum bags in media never give up. They point out one way or the other.

Be it Dalit , Be it Tamilian, Be it a woman. We do not notice it. But these idiots will jump to the fore to highlight.

No casteism in Space jobs, please!
by Hardeep Vora on Jan 11, 2018 03:46 PM  | Hide replies

I not very well versed with the achievements of Dr. Sivan. Nor about the challenges that lie ahead of him.

What caught my eye the most about this article is that the writers have highlighted that Dr. Sivan is the "first Tamil-born scientist who has risen to the top of the space agency". Presumably the writers are also Tamil-born.

Have the writers heard anyone harping that Dr. Vikram Sarabai was a Gujarati?

Such casteist identities better remain in the realm of politics and not in the field of Sciences.

I am a dalit and am neither proud of it nor sad about it.

Let us all wish Dr.Sivan for achieving the best in his tenure for this highly challenging sector.

If some one doesn't flag its caste certificate that there is no reason for hating any person

i see nothing wrong if mr radhakrsihnan is proud that he is a kanyakumarian. one has to be proud of his family, his ancestry, his region, his state and his country ,his caste, his gotra to set goals for himself but not to insult others' similar views in the process. Here Mr Krishnan is taking inspiration from Mr Sivan. that is commendable.
