Ninan is off the mark. The fact is that with all the hype created - Business Standard was in the forefront at that time, with Sunil Jain (I trust I am right in the surname) waxing eloquent on the issue so I can understand his anger. However it is a fact that Raja wrote to the PM who chose to remain silent. Hence you cannot blame Raja for what he did without asking Manmohan to take the blame. In matters of policy one has to accept the Govt's right to decide and a CAG has no business to question the policy with fancy calculations. Yes even after the 3G auctions prices fell (due to competition) but all of them are in losses, so as an economist, how does Ninan answer that?

The 2G verdict exonerating all accused makes everyone feel that its because the statue of Goddess of Justice is blindfold. We taught our children a different meaning. Now we have to correct ourselves. No logic or reasoning Mr Ninan..The rot in the political spectrum in India is illustrated by the chronology of events in the 2G spectrum allocation. But the Judge laments that no evidence was placed on record to proove the wrong doings. CBI- Caught Blinking In !!!

Anil Ambani is too big an election fund donor for the BJP to sacrifice by allowing him to be caught and punished in the 2G scam !
Raja and Kanimozhi are mere pawns who had to be saved on the way to saving Ambani !
Yes, one of the prime reasons for Raja and Kanimozhi getting away scot free could very well be that the BJP now looks at the DMK with the hope that the latter may take it into its alliance at the expense of the Congress and give it a few seats to contest from.
But another equally important reason why the BJP has made the CBI weaken the case is even more obvious, namely to extricate their croxny capitalist election campaign sponsor, Anil Ambani from the case arising from paying bribes to Raja and co !
They say it is a political blunder that could perhaps shock the apex who revoked the licenses (without any evidence in sight ?!) and may perhaps lead it take up the cudgels in the form of a PIL - a classically legal tool to get to the epicenter.
Mr A Raja and Ms Kanimozhi of DMK celebrated as though they have done NO WRONG. Their own conscience, if they have one, will tell them differently. It is just that the CBI court under Justice Saini thought that their CRIMES HAVE NOT BEEN PROVED. He did NOT say that they did NOT commit any wrong. And now, Mr Raja has the temerity to say that he was a shining hero but the upper castes painted him in black. He surely must be thinking that the people in general are idiots and that he can babble anything he wishes. Mr M Karunanidhi has also been involved in several scams but he was smart enough NOT to get caught. In his old age, he now rejoices that his daughter has followed in his illustrious footsteps.
Trial court says no illegality and hence no corruption.
CBI which is the prosecuting the defendants is a caged parrot, as observed by Hon'ble SC.
Trial Court judge O P Saini says CBI lost interest midway. “In the beginning, the prosecution started with the case with great enthusiasm and ardour. However, as the case progressed, it became highly cautious and guarded in its attitude making it difficult to find out as to what prosecution wanted to prove. However, by the end, the quality of prosecution totally deteriorated and it became directionless and diffident.”

I think BJP got interested in having an alliance with DMK.
