Had Sardar Patel not been the home minister post independence, we would have had half a dozen states with special status in India - Including a mini Pakistan in the middle of this country called Hyderabad under Nizam.

And had Sardar Patel been the first PM instead of Nehru, the Kashmir problem would not have been there at all because he would have left it to Pakistan and not tried to make it a part of India using the ruse that Nehru did !
Patel would have stood by the letter and spirit of the Instrument of Accession act as he did in Junagadh !
In fact, the national archives has records that reveal the fact that Patel advised Nehru against venturing into Kashmir !

why should we not venture ? .. minorities need to be given free run ? .. they snatched our lands from hindu khush and now slowly into indian heartland ? ...i say lets push further into .. break their gods and their will... their rigid world view... their contempt towards majority hindu india ...

oye useless, jobless komaaaaaaaaaaali ,Sardar was was purposely not involved to handle kashmir issue as it was left with Nehru to handle the same. Sardar who merged hundreds of princely state in United India could have handled Kashmir issue with the same success.

Hey peabrain, read reports about records of notings that Patel sent to Nehru which are available in the National archives !
He advised Nehru against trying to make Kashmir a part of India because it had a muxlim majority !
But Nehru was stuxpid enough to make his emotional attachment to Kashmir a reason to make Raja Hari Singh sign on the Instrument of accession to join India !
As a result, two begging bowl nations with the largest chunk of grindingly poor people in the world spend their begging bowl revenues to keep buying expensive arms from rich countries and race with each other and kill each other !

We need a PM like Late Shri L B Shastriji... Few words and more of action plan to execute. This era the Cong/BJP PM fears to lose elections and are weak at hearts to wage war on Pak...We Indians had good ancestors as politicians till 1975...Post that we have politicians whose deeds are like crabs. Modi running from pillar to pole for begging investments...Make in India dream is only on paper...he is all talks and no action. Our RSS Terrorist group talks about patriotism, but fears for life even to get to the borders..They do not have guts to get the river back into India.
Majority of our defense budget is allocated to protecting Kashmir borders with a Rogue nation Pakistan whose tentacles are spread inside the state of Kashmir protected by locals who are real enemies of INdia.
The amount of money spent in Kashmir is not worth unless people of Kashmir show gratitude to the nation. Instead of gratitude what scum bags like Farooq Abdullah advocate on behalf of Pakistan. And then there is this scum called Hurriyat COnference who was responsible for driving Kashmiri Pandits out of the valley.
Once the government drive the internal enemies out, Kashmir will be a safer place.
We have a political dispensation in India whose history goes back to the British. How the British whose country is the size of Kerala came from 1000s of miles away and ruled us for 300 years.
Greed, Jealousy and lack of unity are the hall mark of Indian polity from times immemorial. Even a mahapurush like Chanakya found it tough to unite the country which was littered with internal enemies.
Today's India is no different. We have more internal enemies that the external enemies. Pakistan is small change when compared to the country's politicians who are real enemies of the nation.
The Tragedy is even in 21st century, Indian electorate is so gullible and prone to influences of caste , money and nepotism.
Any thing Hindu or Hinduism is projected as some thing sacrilegious and the sh^t called secularism is brought to play.
Unless these sick, pseudo secularists whose life revolves around chair are defeated fair and square, there is no future for India.
Please first take care of internal enemies in Kashmir, not Pakistan on which you have no control, nor even guts to initiate any. Be ruthless, don\'t allow FIR dramas, take care of local police subverting internal controls.
