rediculous and stupid reason -- If wrongly procured and fines are later imposed - that by itself is the best reason to avoid typhoon and in no way its can be called lower cost ! . ! Rafale deal was done and decided technically and on sound logic by experts , so doubt about that .. Right from the MIRAGE- times the french fighters planes have been much superior ..

The problem with congress is that they could not complete the deal after negotiating for 8 years. How can they compare the price prior to 8 years today ? The price of the most of projects under UPA at center and the state after delay generally get a hike of double the amount of original bid. The technology is get improved day by day and one can not compare the prize of fighter plane 8 years back with the fighter plane with latest improved technology and other factors attached thereto.

If Modi has considered this unsolicited offer then it would have opened a Pandora box. It will encourage even other manufacturers to go on offering lower and lower cost plane making it difficult to buy a fighter jeopardizing the preparedness of air force. Modi did the right thing.

Well said. For those of you who were too young to know, during the Kargil war, Indian Jaguar fighters were undergoing upgrades in the UK. The UK refused to return the Jaguars until after the war was over. IAF used French Mirage 2000 fighters to bomb the occupied peaks with laser guided bombs. France, Russia and Israel are the only reliable suppliers during war. UK, etc will hold back crucial spare parts and bombs when you need it the most.
