Interested only to get votes and continue to hold position - every body - It is very wise to be a supporter (or to pretend to be) so that whoever comes to power I could continue to sail on.

This requires very large elaboration. In short people's mind set, I mean emotional voting to be changed. Factors affecting : Money, Culture, Religion, Caste, too many political parties, literacy, Regional values, Inter-state disputes, linguistic, ignorance, Dominance & suppression over others etc. People are not allowed to think and to forget by stirring up emotional feelings.

Some 50/60 years ago one central minister said that he could control himself not to receive any bribe but I cannot get things done without giving. Giving tall promises to win an election despite knowing the facts that any body can not - Hence the Power that be is being questioned. It is going to be continued in future too ...

Everyone is concerned with Ganga and no one is serious. Govt. cannot do anything of its own.
Population near Ganga never controlled, many age old rituals never changed. As Muslims live in this country in 17th century, similarly many Hindus also live here in the same century. Never a secular common civil code is made for anyone. Laws are made as per convenience, not with vision.

It is not unique to river Ganga and it is almost to every river we have throughout the country. There was a river called COOVUM in Chennai and now that river is just like a drainage. Made an attempt during early 70s for cleansing but was not successful except but gain of some ruling party contractors and some others.
