Too much water released from dams
by surajit som on Aug 30, 2018 09:03 AM  | Hide replies

Now the critical question : what role water released from dams played in this catastrophe ? Very big, probably bigger than the rain. This should be analysed critically and preventive measures taken so that this is not repeated in future.

from 80 dams water released as said in the site.If Kerala says that it was just equivalent to 80 litres of water we have to believe that.Never ask ,what was the orginal down stream flow area when the dam was built and what is the extent of encroachment now .The news paper on 1st Aug. had reported that the the Govt. has no records.Say Mullai Periyar and absolve everybody in Kerala!A similar PECHIPARAI dam ,Gravity dam built in British times ,is in operation in kanyakumari Dist.Nobody talks about thatR.Ponnambalam

"Heil__ the pseckeular forces"
by Vishvaksenah on Aug 29, 2018 10:34 PM  | Hide replies

The flood in Kerala was tragic.
Many lives were lost.
Much harm was done to the buildings, roads, railway tracks etc...
But in the midst of all these calamities, the flower of "secularism"is blooming.
The humanitarian acts of the defence personnel, the local fishermen, the young professionals etc have all been written . I sincerely appreciate all their benevolent acts and am happy that it is being properly reported and mentioned in all the main stream media.

But there has been no mention of a particular organisation which has been doing self-less service right from the beginning.
Throughout Kerala the members of this particular organisation has been doing selfless service. Ofcourse the members of this organisation care a hoot for publicity, wealth or glory.
But atleast in passing a small mention of their yeoman service could have been made.
BUT NO.
Why?
It is nothing but protection of "scekeularism" you- stupppid. If the name of this organisation is mentioned, the pictures of these selfless volunteers in their act of rescuing marooned people is published; it might hurt the sentiments of some --progriiessive_libiieral_sceckiuular_individuals.
Hence a complete black out.

@swaminathan sivaraman:

Are you saying that these 25000 people would not have bothered to do what they did, if they had not been members of RSS?

Is that why you want the credit for their good deeds to go to RSS, rather than going to the inherent humanity in these 25000 people?

All of them were involved in relief work. But apart from the fishermen, the most selfless service came from lakhs of ordinary neighbourhood people who did very hard relief work without the tag of political parties or religions !

The Manorama, quoting
by piri on Aug 29, 2018 02:50 PM  | Hide replies

the collectorates of 8 flood affected districts in Kerala, reported the total number of marooned persons rescued and brought by fishermen to relief camps to be in excess of 70000.

The Indian Navy, the coast guard and the IAF have declared the total number of marooned persons rescued by them to be between 17000 and 18000.

(The rest of the people in the relief camps came by themselves, walking, wading or even swimming up)

The Asianet news channel specifically reported that while Navy boats (dinghies) brought 3 to 4 persons to the relief camps in every trip, the fishermen brought 15 to 30 in every trip !

And the contrast is glaring on more counts !

The Navy men arrived in full gear (water proof overalls, waterproof gum boots, cables, tackles, winches, pulleys, helicopters, inflatable rubber boats, Gamin boats, even scuba diving gear and breathing apparatuses).

The fishermen arrived with nothing but their boats !

And, in several houses where the Navymen could not enter due to high water levels impeding access to the doors, fisherfolk simply dived with nothing but a loincloth and a deep breath and surfaced inside the houses !

The Navy and the coast guard and the IAF men have been repeatedly applauded for their courage and devotion to duty. And this is rightly so.

However, rescue and relief work in time of natural disasters are some of their peacetime mandates ! They are duty-bound to carry out rescue and relief work !

This is not the case with the poor fisherfolk !

One more repeated copy paste from ever stinking, useless, jobless, komaaaaaali Buffoon. What is the contribution of this komaaaaaaaaaaaali who only write long and useless comments all the time and invite people for lip smacking Beexf and poxrk parties to kerala ? This komaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaali has not given due credit to the armymen who spent day and night and simply comparing them with their equipment and number of peoile they have rescued. This uselee , stinking man will never improve his behaviour and attitude.

Cut Pay to GovtMaadharChodhs (GMCs), Divert Money for Development
by NEO HITLER on Aug 29, 2018 02:14 PM

Cut Pay to GovtMaadharChodhs (GMCs), Divert Money for Development

Nowadays many GovtMaadharChodhs (aka GMCs or 80% Gov employees) get pensions over 30K / pm, a gov peon or junior asst gets salary Rs 35K / pm, gov teacher 50k, lecturer Rs 1.5 lak, professor Rs 2 lak, etc.

I appreciate Modi's initiatives in collecting taxes, like GST, Income Tax, etc from the 97% hardworking people and businesses in the pvt sector, but what is the use if this money is paid as exorbitant salaries to 3% GMCs, of whom 80% are good-for-nothing fellows?

In pvt companies, only top 3% could be corrupt, but 97% employees have to work hard. In govt companies 80% are corrupt and / or laggard fellows.

GMC laggards, who eat up 10% GDP / yr, seldom work, but work very hard when there is scope for corruption. GMCs spend 80% time eating paan & spitting on walls, talking SexPoliticsAndNonsense, playing cards for 2 hrs when lunch time is 1 hr, etc

GMCs have strong unions and often threaten nationwide strike if their exorbitant demands are not met.

Pay good salaries only to defense personnel; reduce salaries of GMCs to market-avg levels and stop salary revisions. Divert the money thus saved to improve primary education, English skills, healthcare and family planning among poor, SC, ST, MBCs, etc and to support poor farmers driven to suicide. HIGH SALARIES TO GMCs KILLS PATRIOTIC SPIRIT OF NON-GOVT HARDWORKING CITIZENS.

(Instead of Rs 1Lac /PM to a GMC, better pay 10k-to-10 pvt sctr hard-workers)

Only appreciation is not enough
by Jayaprakash Balan on Aug 29, 2018 12:38 PM

No amount of appreciation and salute will equal the obligation the people of Kerala should have towards the fisherfolks who without an inch of hesitation jumped to the rescue operations and that too when they had already faced a huge calamity like Okhi cyclone months back where they had lost everything. We have to salute them as we salute our flag and our defence forces. But all said, just appreciation would not suffice. Its the responsibility of Govt. and the people of Kerala to ensure that their life is also set back to normalcy with all sorts of help in ensuring that their family also moves away from bad struggles and live comfortably. Fisherfolks across our country are one of the key sections of the society whom we all can rely on any time of distress as their help would be the first needed in the first anytime of natural calamities before the rescue team or defence people or aid arrives.
