Railway Stations Ranking on Cleanliness
by umesh sidhra on Sep 25, 2018 07:55 AM

I doubt if the agency QCI has done their home work properly. I have been a frequent traveler across India & abroad & used both Air & Train modes for my travel. I am surprised to see a clean station like Trivandrum Central ranked low & a dirty station like Gwalior Junction ranked better than average.
I think this survey is nothing less than bullshit & the agency should be penalized.

Cleaning of railway stations and bus stations issue....
by Ramanarao Kallepally on Sep 24, 2018 08:03 AM

The Indian citizens's responsibility is that they should maintain cleanness surrounding the residential complexes first of all, roads of the colonies and hospitals and dispensaries of the surrounding cities first of all - then think about cleanness of Indian Railway Stations and Bus Stations which are part and parcel of their railway authorities of the central government and Bus stations should be looked after by the respective states in the Indian territory- which are not being maintained by the authorities - though lot of central assistance are being given to them which are being collected from the citizens of India by way of GST, Income Tax etc. On account of Swatch Bharat only such neatness should not be maintained - in every sphere of human life neatness should be maintained to keep good health and cleanliness., then only India will prosper in all sphere of life.

Status of Rly Stns and Trains
by William Naidu on Sep 02, 2018 09:11 PM  | Hide replies

I live in Pune for the last 24 years and have traveled extensively all over India during the last 45 years. Pune is one of the busiest and dirtiest stations in the country.
The route between Mumbai and Chennai passes through four major states. In spite of this route being between two metros, there are no luxury trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, etc., etc.
The three daily trains that run between these two cities are pretty old and rickety and filthy and outdated, although the ticketless passengers are minimum. Two of the trains were started before Independence and only one introduced post Independence. Is it not injustice and step motherly treatment being meted out to Southerners?

Cleanliness of Railway Station
by bharti sawhney on Aug 30, 2018 12:28 PM

Bina station in Madhya Pradesh work a lot on cleanliness. They maintain it very nicely. It is one of the largest junction on central line. This also must be considered. Being it a small station cannot be neglected.

The quality Survey dont seems to be any where near genuine
by kumar on Aug 28, 2018 09:02 AM  | Hide replies

I really surprised how could these people give red for Railway stations in Kerala. As far as i know Trivandrum, Ernakulam ,Kozhikode are far far better in terms of quality and cleanness. Mr Modi & team has some kind of wrong attitude towards south indians that too especially with Kerala & Tamil Nadu. Never had such a pathetic people at centre who himself shows such ridiculous attitude.

You are one of the people who blame Modi and team for every thing. Go and visit the stations listed as top ones and then decide of yourselves,

Maintenance, modernisation and rennovation of Railway stations are done by Railways and not the State Government. So the States or any Cities do not have any responsibility in this. There are very old stations in Kerala with no major maintenance done for many many years. However the overall cleanliness is much superior in Kerala based Stations. It is a fact that the South is neglected in terms of modrnisation of Railways and after being away from the country for the past 25 years and year ago I travelled in an unreserved compartment for a short distance travel. The condition of the coach/compartment was horrible and it was even worse than those were running 25 years ago. There may be a few prestigious super fast trains with better facilities but such trains are not coming to the South. Even I have seen inside of an A/C coach 2 months when my friend was boarding a train from Cochin and it was allmost the same like the one I travelled in 1990s from Cochin to Mumbai. This is not to blame any Government, but it is a fact. Even when Congress was in power the condition was same.

Railway Station Comparision
by Muhammad Aslam on Aug 26, 2018 04:18 PM  | Hide replies

While talking about cleanliness of Railway station, I had visited two important Stations i.e., Pune which is in green zone and Bijapur which is in red zone. But while comparing to both the stations I found more clealiness in Bijapur as compared to Pune Railway Station. Even Bijapur is safer than Pune Station. I do not know with which instruments do these people had compared the stations. I think it this may be done by playing Ludo game.

Most of the passengers use to urinate during stationed condition of train. And during the night hours, I have seen these stations even Pune station becomes shelter homes for needy and homeless people. This has caused lack of security and cleanliness. As compared to that of Big cities, stations like Bijapur i.e., Present Vijayapura is par better and more cleaner. But I do agree that all stations are having their own and identical garbage. My friend, who is a blind one, shared his experience train travel from Bengaluru to Mumbai via Bijapur, Solapur, Downd, Pune etc, said that, "During my visit to these stations i had identified the arrival of cities with the unique and identical bad and dirty smell or 'Badbu' of that city.
