Defence wish list

Dr Ajay Kumar has not realised that other nations have huge budgets for Defence R&D and manufacture. In India we have a severe resource constraint and even if he wants to, the Finance MInistry cannot give him the budget needed to make fighters, submarines , rifles and naval ships in 5 years.

he is simply playing to the gallery.

What must be done is to choose 2 or 3 products and then aim to be self sufficient in them rather than making a laundry list and saying we will export them all.

DR. KUMAR IS RIGHT. WITH VAST KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSOONS AND SCIENTISTS PREFERING SERVING FOR FOREIGN COUNTRIES WHY INDIA DOES NOT TRY TO UTILISE THEIR SERVICES WITH A HIGHER PAY AND MANUFACTURE ALL THE QUALITY WEAPONRY IN INDIA. WE MAY IMPORT ONLY RAW MATERIALS AND CREATE OTHER INFRASTRUCTURES IN INDIA. THUS WE MAY REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEMS IN OUR COUNTRY.

It is tragedy that we will not pay higher salaries to Scientists ,Physicists,Engineers in DRDA or Space organisation who work with dedication for country but we would rather prefer to Thusands of Crores on Purchase of Weapons which could be developed with less cost even if we pay high salaries to developers ie our scientists ,Engrs and other involved people .See Imports of Weapons it is usaully billions of USD.I hope Modi will consider this if he wins 2019 elections.

India can certainly achieve that status if the roots are touched. The future industry is going to be based on nanotechnology, artifical intelligence, Robotics and IIOT. India must take the lead by detailed research in these fields. Since the equipment in fresearch in the field of nanotechnology requires huge amounts; it is required that Central Govt established Research labs which are freely available to capable and desirous redearches. Presently R & D and S & T projects are only limited for key top science and engineering while the researchers in private universities and colleges does not get the chance to work on these equipment. It will be worthwhile if scholar at Phd levels are given easy and direct approach to the instituions of research or central labs making the research directional to the desifred objectives.

Defence equipment

Good to know, but how to implement it, our ordinance factories could not provide even advanced rifles and light machine guns, we are importing them.
Reason is those in govt. sector do not work, they have no fear of loosing job. Similarly HAL could not develop more than Tejas, or MIG. Rest all are assembled here. With huge man power-hardly 40 aircrafts are made p.a.
Modi has taken initiative to privatise the production, let us see its results.

Way to go, Dr. Ajay Kumar !

But, difficult to se how we will achieve self-reliance in fighters by 2025. Do you have an ace up your sleeve... a joint venture with one of the top manufacturers.. ?
