Body language is cold
by Vijay Sahani on Apr 28, 2018 10:33 AM  | Hide replies

After one day of "one-to-one" talks, the body language of Modi and Xi appear cold. It seems the two can hardly tolerate each other.

When two egoists meet, and neither wants to pamper the ego of the other, how can talks be fruit.

The China junket
by daniel thorat on Apr 27, 2018 08:26 PM

In the context of the judiciary mess and very dangerous signals being seen for the country, how can the hon`ble PM enjoy foreign trips. Is it because this may be the last junket? I do not know the objective, but if it is claimed to have been accomplished, then it follows that the PM and his ministers should better do similar "diplomacy" tours to the US, UK, all European countries, Australia NZ, Middle East, Pakistan etc. The portents of China in particular are a possible move for the President or PM for life. After all, the Constitution, though highly revered foundation, has been and can be ignored or changed.

The current visit/presence of PM and other two Ministers in China
by daniel thorat on Apr 27, 2018 08:12 PM

It is truly foxing to hear and read so many "firsts"of this peculiar, specific purposeless, diplomacy visit, closely after the Doklam and its frightening aftermath. Some "firsts" can be made easily by asking Chinese Def.Minister to take a permanent office in Defence Ministry,
by sending Anupam Kher etc.to China to make a big budget documentary on Xi Jinping and his family for exhibition all over the world, by inviting the Chinese leaders without any agenda whatsoever. I vaguely remember we went to Xi for NSG favour, and wanted him to condemn Pak, and support us in SC of the UN. Any of those things now different? Gullible as we are, we swallow all those fantastic pictures but know zero. Where is any diplomacy when the objective or purpose is not known or made known?

It does not merely "look" it actually is.Having seen the wounded and bodies reaching MH Pune in 1962, the wounds have really not healed. How can the atmosphere, distrust, confrontational background be changed by just one highly publicized visit by three ministers of India, when the country is totally in the dark about the purpose and can only see bhakts throwing out conjectures after conjectures of the unknown?

Modi good plan
by Sameer Shaikh on Apr 27, 2018 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

You beauty Narendra Modi you realized very late but good we must not treat china our enemy but special partner. Along with Pakistan, China and Bangladesh we must create strong belt like EU and ASEAN. Thats the only way forward. West specially UK, USA and EU wanted to use India against china without giving benefit to us. We must sideline Pakistan for some more period because some section specially pro Kashmir freedom and their militants and few section of ISI whose bread and butter runs on India hatred will try to sabotage by some attack and more careful with USA who might bring more ISIS in afghanistan to disrupt it.

As China spread its tentacles we must not waste time in blocking them but take part in CPEC and negotiate later.

Thats best decision taken. We must clearly tell west and other nations your anti immigration, anti globalisation and inward looking and protectionism will be counter productive now. India and China must stand shoulder to shoulder. We wasted lot of time in trusting west specially now all populist leaders of their nation and most hypocrate trump, theresa may and even south east asian onea.

DIPLOMACY AT ITS BEST.
by KRISHNAMURTHY V on Apr 27, 2018 07:10 PM

Diplomacy at its best. China is surely the world's most populated country and one of the economic/ military powers of today; it is imperative that we have a peaceful and friendly relationship with such a powerful neighbor. At the same time, wherever it was felt that China's aggression had to be challenged, like in the Maldives (along with US and Australian Navies) or negotiating with Iran (Chabahar port) and Oman ( Duqm port) for ports to counter the presence of Chinese in those area , Modiji's government had done the right thing. This is how diplomacy must go from a position of strength and not of weakness.

Rise of communism
by Suresh Babu on Apr 27, 2018 04:54 PM  | Hide replies

Capitalism collapsed in all over the world including in Europe, in mother of capitalism USA and in India also. US is receding from all the world leadership like NATO, Paris Pact, Globalisation, WTO, etc; and communist China is coming to that place. China is now the largest economy in the world – China’s contribution to the world GDP is 30%, America’s contribution to the World GDP is 14% and India’s contribution to the world GDP is 4%.
