One of the main reasons that forces people to rush into already overcrowded trains and railway bridges is the inhuman attitude of corporate offices that refuse to accept late-running trains as a reason for late-coming and cut salaries. There should be a law to help people take action on such corporates that pressurize people to put their lifes at risk.
how old is this bridge? for ages people were using this bridge and nothing has happened. why this happened now? why did people panic? any miscreants responsible for this? instead looking from this angle, blaming the railways is unfair.
no doubt railway administration is to be blamed, but nobody is talking about stopping mumbai population increasing day by day. it is impossible to provide world class infrastructure where there is population explosion. mumbai population is already more than 44 countries in thye world.
I have been complaining to the railways over twitter of a similar mishap taking place at Chromepet at Chennai.I have even brought the RPF and shown them the hawkers squatting right on the narrow foot-over, I even sent them pictures. Absolutely no action has been taken so far. Are they waiting for something similar to happen before they take action? I have made nothing less than ten complains to the railways!!!!!
No doubt railways are to blame for such accidents but our public also does not follow rules when it comes to safety or managing oneself in crowd. Everybody thinks he or she is the king or queen.
We Indians will never learn from mistakes and as such I would advise people rather live in smaller cities rather than Mumbai which is more of a blue whale game nowadays.
Indian Govt and bureaucrats believe in the policy of minimum facilities to public. During the planning stages itself there are a lot of cut backs in the name of cost cutting. Then there are further cuts during design, implementation, execution.....

The problem is nobody gives a damn in this country. The politicians have scr***d up the lives of the common man. Shame on the parties. These johnnies must be forced to travel by the local trains at peak hour. They should be stripped of all privileges like Executive class and First class travel.
