It is not the question of a meeting between these two defense dignitaries from which people need not to expect much but over all people are not expecting much from any leaders of the country. They (people) are bound to democratic process which is almost hijacked from the hands of a common man and they are only expecting some thing out of blue and are leading a life of hardships.
going from bad to worse with every passing month and with just about a year and a half left in its tenure (not to speak about a few crucial assembly elections in the interim), the Modi govt has been compelled to go early into a heightened election campaign mode.
There is little in the way of time, energy or resources left for it to think or plan or act for the long term !
This is not to suggest even briefly that the Modi govt thought, planned or acted in any substantial way for the long term at any time during its tenure so far !

piri did UPA acted for long term plan then we would not have been such mess.Then world economy was expanding but UPA could not make hey when sun was shining.You could have advised MMS then in the interest of nation!!.

Mr Desai, This commie komaaaaaaaaaali is jobless and useless but he always like to give advice to the present government and criticise them out of depression as the party and ideology he follow has no scope to rule at the center as they are rejected everywhere in this country.
These paid antinationals have come to know in advance that nothing much is to be accepted from this meeting. Probably these antinationals are consulted by both US and India before taking any decisions.

any thing can discuss with Madam Defence minister is not working it is only formalities. In the mind of USA is different than Indian Govt. She cannot take any decision being Defence Minister all will be one center point and today center point is worried for state election till end of this election then general election will come. what we have achieved go on touring and what we have achieved sitting in India that the common middle class tax payer to think. I dont think this govt can do with the international community rather than the relation built by earlier loot govt. Today our Hon. Prime Minister is busy with announcing programmes because of looking to state election. MP rules by BJP last 15 years but today also there is no light likewise there are many places. He is less bothered about the Mumbai's local train passengers are suffering since quite some month. there is no train in time during morning peak hours and officers goes are suffering without any mistake from them. we are all buying season ticket with advance payment at least Mah. CM should know that. No one is interested to give any facility to Mumbai Local passengers forget about the programme announced during these years. this is only election gimmicks and nothing else. this view may not be agree some people but definately majority of readers realy understand about this feeling.
You have missed a very important point for which he is here: US needs Indian soldiers on ground something that their soldiers dare not to do in Afghanistan.
