Out of about 130 MLAs 19 MLAs can not dictate who should be the Chief Minister. Either they should resign as MLAs or should support the decision taken by the majority. What is democracy? The decision taken by the majority either by ballot boxes or collective decision.

those who speak for english depiction listen to this:

If you go to Bengaluru(Karnataka) and have some information you should ask in Kannada only. If you
ask in anyother language except Telugu, you won't
get any reply leave alone english.

If you go to Pune(Maharashtra) and ask for the bus
route to any specified place in Hindi you will get
the response not in hindi but in Marathi.

But when they come to tamilnadu they ask for information in English.

What a people and what a mentality???

Though I am agst imposition of Hindi, it cannot be generalised blaming other language speaking states. It is the question with whom we are asking. In general it is manageable with English in big cities & Metro. Due to literacy Tamils know English little better than others. I did not face any problem with English in Calcutta, Bangalore, Mysore, Bombay, Delhi, Hyderabad,Agra, Jallundar, Amritsar, Trivandrum, Cochin etc.

Of course it is very difficult for the people who know only one language irrespective of any language. However I wish to state:

There are large number of Biharis, Bengalis UPians are working in Tea Stalls, Parotta shops, North Indian Food hotels, construction workers
garment making etc without knowing either English or Tamil. Knowing just only one Indian language many are working in gulf countries.

POWER that be
by Gladyschellam on Sep 19, 2017 05:58 PM

There were no allegations or any references spelt by public or the MLAs towards caste configurations, as Padmanabhan said and no Print media or visual media quoted about that hitherto. Only INTEREST and PRINCIPLE among them are POWER. Had this gentlemen get benefited in any form he would have hailed this govt - Not only him but the remaining MLAs too.
Had this CM cared the orders of Dinakaran there may not be any problem. In fact they want a puppet as CM for one group or family.

Along the National Highways
by piri on Sep 19, 2017 04:05 PM  | Hide replies

in Vellore and other places in T.N, the English lettering on milestones and signboards are being painted over and replaced with Kyndi ones !

This has been going on for several months now.

So, the NH milestones and signboards will now have only two languages - Tamil and Kyndi !

What is most remarkable about this is that it started about a month after Jayalalitha died !

Before her death, such a *courageous* act was not attempted even once !

A vivid testimony for how the central govt has felt emboldened enough to venture out with their north Indian faeces into T.N after the death of the lady !

NHAI belongs to central government. Central Govt reserves the right on what goes on the Milestone signs. If TN wants its writ we need to build our own highways. How can we cry about other persons object.

Yes, the NHAI is administered by the Central govt.

But why did they not dare do anything of this kind till December 5, 2016 ?

Why did they have to wait so long ?

NHAI belongs to every state - 62% of Revenue of Centre comes South India and Maharashtra. TN stands 2nd next to Maharashtra.

Every state must have in common link language as well as in local language.

If she was honest and helpful to people then why is she in jail ?? Because she helped herself.
Surprised these MLA goons are supporting her .
May be because she must have promised some loot.

Chinamma may be knowing all the secrets of this MLAs and that is the reason this MLAs are afraid of her and are compelled to show their loyalty to her.

Politics of memorials
by auryas on Sep 19, 2017 02:49 PM

The English man has said an average Indian is a sentimental fool but not in a good way.

When it comes to politics, across the board Indian politics are centered on dead people, their graves , their memorials or statues. Once an ideologue or a politician is dead person becomes an overnight deity of the heavens. Lot of invented good is attributed to the dead person. People sing paens about the dead person and finally a memorial is erect and then the real drama begins.

The henchmen led by the dead person's close aides become guardians of the ideology the dead person adopted when the person was alive. Any one who says or does any thing against the dead person becomes a target of these zealots. In essence , we have a mob who run their agenda through the society in memory of the dead person.

As the mobs rule the roost , police provide security to the drama being enacted at the expense of tax money.
