I found this article balanced and is a far cry from typical Modi/BJP bashing ones that Rediff promotes in its platform. The author is right that Raksha Mantri should have an indendent working style for all operational issues and consult PM and Cabinet Committee on Security(CCS) on strategic matters. That is my view is the right thing to do rather than running to PMO for all decisions.
All the points mentioned by the author are valid and should be taken up based on priority to improve our defence forces
how do you think that the PMO must be kept away from defence, was she appointed by some one else or is the department separate from the rest of the govt. surgical strike was commissioned after a discussion beteen the 3 chiefs and PMO and defense. its like telling the son don't follow the father and don't take his advice
A very interesting clip caomes to mind where Sadhuguru is talking about a tea seller telling what PM must do. The only problem is he doesn't know how to make good tea. This interviewee has in-depth knowledge of how the government should be run. If only he knew how air force should be run, we wouldn't have scams there during his service.

Ever since Modi won, rediff is having nightmares everyday and reflects thru their articles... But height of it is saying PMO should not run defence....May be that is why Nehru lost face with China in 1962...

Yes. definitely better than you. Do this ex Group captain expect Defence minister to work without informing or getting instruction from PMO ? Had he ever expected as Group captain that his army colleagues working under his command to work independently without his knowledge ?
Sir! with due apologies this is what discipline you have learn t in Defense Services? Your write up is extremely disappointing to any Defense personnel. Freedom of speech does not mean you betray the confidence of your own people. I have served in Air Force as well in Army but had never experienced such a mockery of Freedom of Speech. Your retirement does not give you the liberty to comment on PM. I feel sad. I apologize to all the Indians on your behalf.Please change your style of writing or stop writing on defense Services.

Yes Mr. Dilip.Defense services do encourage discussions before planning only if it is not an order. Once the order is received - it is always " YES SIR". There is NO BOSS. Please do not mix up with CHAMCHEGIRI with Yes Sir.If it is not done no war can be won.

First thing is that Alcohol should be stopped in Armed forces. Most of the generals have a swig and blabber in the evening telling they can win two wars at a time without understanding the consequences.The foreign diplomats will then have to do the firefighting as to what happened in Doklam. When one drinks they become weak. I wonder how it can be allowed in defence forces. By the way alcohol is now banned in Chinese army...

For some self claimed intelligent people with self claimed very high IQ than others find only deficiency in BJP ,RSS and Modi due to their bias mindset. But ultimately they expose their lack of knowledge and intelligence and behave like an idiots.
