of ideological persuasions, think tanks as well as independent analysts in the western world are near unanimous in their opinion that the Belt and Road initiative, the biggest project ever conceived in human history both in scale and spread, has the potential to finally catapult China to be the equal of the United States in every respect.
This mammoth project envisages synergizing the economies and resources of more than 30 countries in Asia and Eastern Europe and put them on the road to one day become a common market that can rival and outstrip the European Union.
Besides already being an industrial and export powerhouse, China will gain access to hundreds of thousands of square kilometres of fertile and semi fertile cultivable land in sparsely populated countries that it plans to carry out its massive newly developed organic farming technologies on to lead the world in food production too.
Besides, China will receive another huge bonus in the form of a one country pathway to the Arabian sea, the middle east and Africa with its CPEC project. The countries will be networked with high quality roads, railways, ports, power plants, communication lines, etc. to put them onto the path of fast development. The initiative will offer the biggest ever employment bonanza for young Chinese in varied fields.
Chinese economic growth, tapering off with the country approaching its saturation point in exports, will rise to the next level through harnessing the huge resources of the member countries in the belt.
Many western analysts have elaborated on why the project might prove to be a win win deal for both China and its client countries in the initiative.
