Press has an unenviable task of making 'truth' available to the society in an unadulterated form. Press is the forth estate of society that wields significant power in our society.
Sadly though Press always talks about 'freedom of press ' and never 'responsibility of press'. Freedom of press will automatically be taken care of when 'responsibility of press ' are fulfilled.
It is not driving your opinion or opinion of some idiot called 'political commentor/ analyst' down the throat of a reader / viewer which is called freedom of press. Freedom of press is founded on 'truth' and 'truth' alone.
You open a newspaper and you see advetorials ( paid editorials) and paid news. You switch on a TV and dumb, noisy anchormen/women talking noisy rubbish and pass it for news and entertainment.
In it's current state, Indian media is like a brothhel house where you can pay to be in bed with any one you like.
If you want to restore 'Freedom of press' beyond a boring , cliched punch line, then you imbeciles in the media have to work hard , introspect and be truthful to yourself and society. Otherwise it will just Dramabazi and cinematics, candle light vigils.

I strongly condemn cold blooded murder of senior left wing journalist Gauri lankesh. But I also strongly object tweets and non sense statements by people supporting RSS ideology. This is a clear cut case of law and order problem. I hope both central and state governments will provide full security to journalists irrespective of their political background. It is to be seen how Congress party is unitedly fighting against BJP-RSS combine in the upcoming state and central elections. I also personally strongly condemn disastrous economic and fiscal policies of BJP led government at center. There must be freedom of expressions within the country otherwise modi too will be remembered as tyrant like Kim Jone and Saddam Hussein.

The killing should be condemned but the media also get real and introspect about the values they stand for. Instead of resorting to dramatics and display of cinematic support, the media persons should put their heads together and objectively analyse the event and take steps to prevent such mishaps.

It's not only RSS, but also CPM workers who get killed in Kerala. And this has been going on for decades. It's unfortunate, but definitely there is a difference between political clashes, and someone walking into her house getting shot dead, right? Or is your mind so full of right wing propaganda that even this basic difference is lost to you? What people like you are not understanding is that slowly we are turning into a Hndu version of Pakistan. There also journalists and lawyers routinely get shot.
