This khaki shorts government has the propensity of taking f-all and giving them epic proportions. The Taj was not an issue at all till the khaki shorts in UP brought it up. There was no reason for it. Now the whole of India and its mother are talking about a non issue. At the end of the day will anyone including Yogi, Som, Modi, Shah or Uma have the guts to damage it or in anyway demean it. We are already the laughing stock of the world through beef ban, alcohol ban, love jihads, gaurakshak vigilantism, anti romeo squads, bothced up investigations like the Aarushi case by the CBI, Mallya's "escape", 1001 "enquiries, commissions and probes" which seem to go nowhere and now we are after a global monument. WHERE DID ALL THE TALK OF DEVELOPMENT GO?

The article contains many interesting nuggets of history. If you can, add to the information. Why the dismissive attitude?

take some sorbitrate and sleep. It is too much for a decrepit like you on the threshold of last breathe.
In all the controversy regarding the Tajmahal, one should be astonished that almost all media is trying to prove that it is Tajmahal. However,a few historians have put forth hundreds of proof indicating that it was a Tejomahal where there was a temple of lord Shiva constructed by a Rajput King. Many rooms which are closed for a long time give ground to this. Why not these rooms are opened to eliminate doubts in the minds of people at large.Let the truth prevail. --G.V.Sowani, Tasgaon.416 312.

Astonished? If there is opposition to the accepted history of Taj Mahal being a mausoleum for Mumtaj Begum built by Shahjehan the proponents of alternate theories should publish their findings in reputed peer reviewed journals. All that P.N.Oak did was to write some articles in Mother India and compile the same into a short book. Has any historian in India or abroad accepted his work? Even K.M.Munshi, a staunch Hindu rejected it.
