A proper research must be made on the different natural material available in Ayurveda, to find out their constitution and how it helps to fight a disease. We already know that KIZHAA NELI leaves are very effective in the fight against Jaundice, and even reputed hospitals like CMC Vellore refer patients to a town called Walajapet where a family gives traditional medicine (along with buttermilk) very effective against even advanced stages of Jaundice. Similarly, recent experiences have proved that Papaya Leaf extract and NILAVEMBU extract have been very effective against Dengue fever, and raise the platelets to the required level in a few days. Likewise, we have different age old medicines in different parts of India, like the treatment for Asthma in Hyderbad, for paralysis near Palamaner in AP( on Chennai-Chittor-Bangalore route) Studies must be encouraged on these type of age old medication to know how they work. Otherwise, the western world will copy our knowledge and patent them as they did with "turmeric".
