SC on Aadhaar
by Geetha RM on Oct 17, 2017 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

SC said earlier that Aadhaar can be mandatory only for GOI's welfare schemes. This interim order should not be overturned in the final order. Having a bank account, having a mobile connection etc are fundamental and absolute rights.

Country full of fraudsters
by gokula patra on Oct 17, 2017 01:08 PM  | Hide replies

India as a country of full of fraudsters willing to outsmart systems to make money and indulge in unscrupulous activities should not talk about fundamental rights.. In past 70 years, this country had a strong parallel economy run by traders and banias, dubious social schemes where same guy enjoyed social benefits by having multiple ration cards, voter cards and so on should not now bother about rights. TO curtail all these non sense, it is important to link aadhar to bank accounts to cut this parallel and dubious practices. However Govt must ensure security of the data base to protect the interest of the people .

To curtail the "nonsense" (as you put it) we must have rule of law, not something which encroaches on the privacy of the citizen.

No law is effective unless you have effective procedures to make law work. With 120 crore population, pin pointing the fraudsters and leakages is not easy unless you link everything to a common identification number.. Provide a better solution if you have ...
