Cracker ban on Diwali
by Mohan Lal on Oct 16, 2017 06:18 PM  | Hide replies

If cracker is to be banned in Diwali, it should be announced at least 6 months earlier such that the people who are in the cracker business should not invest in this item and avoid the loss. This loss wont be to only cracker dealer and retailers but it is a loss of material and services ie national loss.

Ban on crackers

The author rightly argues on the issue. 100% of sewage inevery town let into rivers and rivulets anc cause greater pollution of water and spoil the underground water too in the long run. Is it possible to ban use of water in the toilet and kitchens and bathrooms? Dyeing by textile usints have spoilt water quality in Tamilnadu. Good that textiles were not banned yet!!

will you feed the textile workers? are you aware of the stringent effluent disposal rules imposed on textile industries? if one is polluting , the others get a default right to pollute is your formula it seems.

Most of the people dont support continuance of life on earth. They think continuance of life on earth or may be in the universe is the duty of somebody unseen. They go on destroying the life support system on the earth.

What is being communicated or highlighted in this article? The writer equates the ban on fire crackers with Pakistan Supreme court’s ban on Kite flying! Even though he mentions that the real reason for the ban was that kite flying was considered ‘un islamic’, he still goes ahead and justifies the stated reason of the Pak Supreme court for the ban - that the birds and people do get killed because of kite flying. Going by the same logic, Pakistan’s supreme court can ban rice and wheat too, because at times people do get killed by rice and wheat,( choking while eating, coma and death because of the increase in the sugar in blood for people with diabetic etc. )
More importantly, he is not only taking pot shots at the Supreme court’s concerns about Love Jihad and national anthem, but is also giving an advice to our Supreme court to learn from the Supreme court of United States. I find the entire article very offensive and is very likely to influence the vulnerable minds. I wonder if there is anything I, as a citizen can do to curtail this sort of highly biased and illogical utterances that would create animosity in the society.

You criticise Pakistan SC about wheat logic. And you apply same logic to support Indian SC. Brilliant :-).

Great one. If SC can ban crackers they might as well ban rice and wheat. Superb retort. :-)

Dumb Decision
by VARUN on Oct 16, 2017 03:23 PM

Private and public transport, Aviation industry, chemical, cosmetic, fashion industries and many more cause pollution all through the year but no body does anything.
Reason is simple - the industry/lobby is too big for these decision makers. They would never ban anything there.
Besides, Diwali is a Hindu festival and they are the easiest targets.
If you have guts show it to me-
Ban sales and use of all pollution causing vehicles with immediate effect -
If not, allow the fireworks manufacturers to produces fireworks with reduced pollutants as you have allowed the vehicle manufacturers. Allow them a time limit to comply so that they could do so over a period of time.
This abrupt ban is bad in law and is against the principles of natural justice.
