IN america big dams are broken asthe rivers getting dry but we are building big damsThis is all nonsense we repay heavily for this nonsense activity Big dams will be big problem in the coming days but nobody listening downstream portion of river will dried up due to D/S side vilages will face acute water shortage problems as well after some years rivers will disappear from the map instead just construct the anicut at every 3 5 km of height of .5 to 2 m so water will be stored throught the river & plenty of water will be available in all season speciaaly summer then winter Most useful solution Better if the anicut is contructed by making hips of sand filled gunny or jute bag before the onset of rainy days that is most natural solution but like making latest sophosticated armaments for peace contrarory it negative impact is seen all over the world now everywhere there is war going in most of parts of world like this this big dams will be disatrous in near future

River Tamiraparani originates and ends within a district runs about 75 miles whereas other rivers Vaigai originates from Kerala, Cauvery from Karnatak , Palar from AP. Till 1956 before bifurcation of states, all the rivers were under the control of Madras Presidency. Hence there was no problem at all. After bifurcation regionality makes the problem. It should have been sorted out at the time of bifurcation itself. Now it is being used for political purposes.
In Andhra Pradesh about 3000 TMC of water flows in to the sea and similarly from Kerala too for the same quantum is being wasted - flowing into the sea. To my memory people used to get water from wells by hand, I mean the water level used to be at ground level and during summer by 10-15 feet. Whereas now people get water thru bore well between 400-800 feet. Earlier River Tamiraparani flows with speed but now it flows like drainage. The river never dried up till date but it cannot supply now drinking water to 4 southern districts. This year till Sept end these districts have rain of above normal by 31% more. These districts get more rain about 60-65% during North East monsoon only. People believe this year they may get more. For the last three years there were shortage of rain. Mr Ganesha Nadar could visit during Pongal time and he could see what he has seen during his younger days.
To be blamed are: First general Public who are residing nearby the river Secondly politicians who are ignoring to save water beds.
After reading the report one can understand the sorry situation of the villagers. please do not mix politics in such cases. we have to collectively think and solve the problem. the concerned authorities should immediately act to alleviate the difficulties of these people.
